On a tangent, I know, but does anyone remember a sherberty type thing -one half cherry, one half orange, with a 'swizzle stick' to one side to dip into the sherberty sugar? Hell! This is bringing back so many memories that we are running our own I "heart" the seventies..well some might be doing an eighties version.
And yes, I do remember Spangles - they were fruit flavoured sticky boiled sweets the same shape as Tunes still are...

Ditzy- 3 quid a week!! I wonder how much kids get these days? We got 25p on a saturday morning until we started working and then it stopped. I started helping my brother with his paper rounds at the ripe old age of 9 for which he got 7 quid per round and he paid me 2 per round, we did 3 rounds, I remember sundays sucked, I'd have to get on my bike and have the bags put across both shoulders as I couldn't balance otherwise, bloody sunday supplements!

Re: What weren't you allowed?
Dib dab is the liquorice stick in sherbert, yellow cylindrical packet. Double dip is the one with the yellow stick and two flavours of sherbert. I saw both recently in a proper sweet shop.

Re: What weren't you allowed?
Never heard it called Dib Dab before. Sherbet or Sherbet Fountain was the one with the stick of liquorice sticking out if the top.

To leave the table until excused.
Eat crisps without permission.
Chew gum / bubble gum.
Eat any meal without hands being washed.
Ask for / Receive anything without please/thanks (this was at school as well).
To leave vegetables. I sat for an hour staring at some horrid bean things. Eventually just ate the bastards. Stone cold. Only did that once, I still eat my least favourite things first before getting onto the meat.
Leave the meat until last (Dad's rule) - It's the most expensive bit, eat it whilst it's hot.
Further than either pub at each end of the village on my bike. Had to report in every 2-3 hours on weekends.
Strong Blackcurrant squash.
Ribena (too expensive).
Peanuts. I ****ing love them but more than a handful = shits and pukes.
To answer the home phone. EVER.
To answer the front door. EVER.
I've got plenty more but need to remember.
The last two are bolded because I'm amazed at the amount of kids who answer their parents phones and then hang up or are just ****ing useless.
