During the last years of his life, Cobain struggled with heroin addiction, illness and depression.
It isn't the way they died, it is the fact that they did die because of drug addiction..you can add Brian Jones to that list as well.

SIR – Other commentators say there was a degree of inevitability about Amy Winehouse’s death and that it was only a matter of time.
Surely this is the reason why it should not have happened?
