Maybe the question should be how many would you admit to in public, if you had to name a figure.
I am thinking about the movie with Hugh Grant where the woman listed off 30 or so men one by one, to his growing horror.
I think a man claiming 10 or so is probably not too horrifying (regardless of the true number) much lower or much higher might be off putting. But applying the double standard a woman saying higher than 4 or 5 might be crossing the limit.
