I have a 5 and iOS7 seems to make it quicker and battery lasts longer. My wife has an iPhone 4 and hers seems quicker but battery is running down faster.

Just curious.

Lesson learnt: never update an apple product unless it becomes unusable without the update.

Or buy a non Apple product?

Back in 2009 I was looking to get a smartphone; after checking out Apple and the competition, Apple had the edge because of the clarity of their display and the quality of the camera's picture. I nearly got a smartphone and it woulda been Apple, purely for its technological edge.

Fast forward a few years, I instead decided to get a Sony RX100, because picture taking was a big reason I wanted the Apple. The Sony is shorter than the Iphone or similar but about 3 times as thick. Yet it is quite a compact camera that I take it most places.

As for the current crop of smarphone offerings, is the Iphone noticeably better in picture taking and display quality than the competition?

because every update seems to screw something... like your piss poor battery life-- as if it wasn't bad enough anyway.

I bought an ipad mini last week on iOs6 - not going to update unless I have to.

I bought into apple for the quality of the app. store. Nothing else.

The sensible approach is never to update *any* product with the initial release of any new OS or app. I was taught that 20 years ago... whether it's Windows or Mac, I've always waited until the inevitable x.1 or x.2 bugfix release of any new piece of software before updating. Saves a lot of potential hassle.

Have to say I'm loving ios7 on my 4s. Thing is running smoother than ever and I'm liking the feel of it. Battery life is about the same but I have disabled the background updating as it's not something I need anyway.

For anyone having issues backup your phone then do a full factory reset before installing ios7 again. Seems to make a difference to a lot of people presumably like all things computing a reformat leads to a more complete installation.

Nothing to tell on my ipad2. Ios7 runs fine and no noticeable difference to speed or battery.

All fine here too. I'm just finding my way round again although I don't like the new photo set up and my father has photos stored since 2009 even though he bought the iPad in 2012?
