When in my kilt outfit, I always had a sgian dubh ("little knife") in my right sock...but had to hand it into security when I went to a disco in Birmingham in the 70s.
Now you can't wear them at all when flying...for obvious reasons.

I forgot to put a pair of nail scissors in my suitcase and had them in my carry-on bags...they confiscated the scissors (that was Qantas domestic). Probably wouldn't risk carrying a sgian dubh on board though...quite expensive - the good ones...just in case it was confiscated !

Crochet hooks are debateable though, cos although I put mine (yes...) in my suitcase, I did see a young woman with one in her hair and she passed through. This was, however, still at the time where you could just point at your belt with a smile'n'shrug and get through the metal detector.
