Diet

Ive never had longer than 2 days of zero meals - if it hit 3 + days then common sense would tell you to eat. Like most things you have to use some intelligence.

I find the fasting thing interesting and if it works on some people then fair play . It's not sustainable or long term though . People need to eat 'clean' full stop , it's the only long term solution for weight management and good health .
If you eat clean the majority of your time and train hard and well you will change your body shape very very quickly .
It's a very simple formula and i still don't get why people complicate it . Eating well coupled with resistance and cardio is the best way to go long term .

If I keep this up for long enough, the 5 days will become healthier and the portions will become smaller.

I can clock up to 50k on the road per week running and i'll do two runs early in a fasted state , no more as you'd start burning muscle as fuel . 2 days of zero meals sounds brutal and daft .

Some of you make is awfully complicated. You just need to consume no more calories than you use to maintain your weight and consumer fewer than you use to lose weight by eating less and/or moving more.
Getting all your calories from cake/booze is bad so you eat lots of healthy veg and proteins and consume less of the bad stuff plus take a bit (or a lot) of exercise.
Or in my case get rather ill and lose a couple of stone.

Except counting calories is now a demonstrable falacy. Most calorie counts are incorrect both in terms of intake and expenditure and the accuracy required to actually monitor caloric intake over a year requires an accuracy rate that is simply beyond possible without extensive lab equipment.
That's accurate enough for me.

2 days without meals , that sounds horrendous and unhealthy . The body needs fuel , the type of fuel is the key .
I can clock up to 50k on the road per week running and i'll do two runs early in a fasted state , no more as you'd start burning muscle as fuel . 2 days of zero meals sounds brutal and daft .

Right on the cutting edge are a few studies that have shown a 7 day fast to have completely reset the immune system, stimulated the production of stem cells and show early promise of being able to treat auto immune conditions. One study showed MS to be "cured" it's too early yet to tell if it will reappear but so far the individual show no signs that were previously there of Ms.
Strange and wonderful things happen in the human body when it is under extreme stress from starvation or extreme exertion often both. the old 3-6 regular meals a day and several hours of cardio a week are been increasingly shown to not only be highly inefficient but to be positively detrimental to health at a cellular level.
It's no accident that activity and food intake levels that mimic 2 million years of hominid evolution seem to be the most effective way of maintaining health.
Now I'm not for a moment suggesting ditching modern healthcare but there is an interesting point where the two combined allow for minimal intervention and effort and maximum health

Isn't it obvious that if you are putting on weight you are eating too much or not doing enough exercise so you take steps to adjust that? It's really not rocket science and if people haven't realised that a diet of cake and crisps isn't good then they are utterly stupid.

Counting calories is utterly boring. I've never done it and just cut out the crap when required.

Little by little I'm getting there. I ****ing love a packet of crisps but they're really bad, so I never buy them for home and try to avoid them for lunch.
That being said, I'll still drink and eat crap at the weekends if I feel like it because nobody wants a diet purely of salad, vegetables, fruit and boredom. Moderation wins for me at the moment.

Agreed.

Yes and no. Fasting is not only natural but it seems the research is increasingly pointing towards it being essential to maintain full health.
