Soldiers are intended for defence, going to war means the politicians have failed in their job or have decided to use other means, as Von Clausewitz says "War is regarded as nothing but the continuation of state policy with other means."

I have no issues with soldiers being used offensively. We could have stopped Hitler far earlier had we listened to Churchill and armed faster. Probably would have saved millions of lives both civilian and military.

N.

........ and then Churchill was given reliable intel about the Nazi death camps but decided that 'spot-bombing' them (which the head of a squadron of Mosquitos told him could be taken out very accurately) wasn't worth the effort......... still, what's a few million Jews when there is a proper war on??

spot bombing in ww2 meant actually hitting the same city you aimed for. Accuracy in ww2 was somewhat limited so in fairness Churchills decision was probably the right one

Or he could have used WMDs like he did on the arabs when they rebelled.

Oops, I guess we shouldn't mention that the Greatest Briton used WMDs right?

Gas was certainly used on the western front but there is little to no conclusive evidence it was used against the Arabs. Plenty of other nasty shot was done but the benefits of a free and democratic society mean that these things aren't hidden but are openly available in history texts or if you are so inclined in the war records themselves.

While your at it perhaps you'd like to remember how the uk covers up the fire bombings of the Second World War. Oh no wait hang on we don't

If rituals serve a purpose for Muslims then why does Islam chastise the rituals of other religions, surely what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Islam’s issue with other religions and human ideologies is not about rituals, it is about polytheism versus monotheism. It is about the submission to the one and only creator as opposed to submitting to fake creators made of matter. Discipline and patience are just bonus benefits one gets from the Islamic rituals/worships. The major benefit is in the spiritual dimension. A scholar of Islam once said, if the kings of the world were to know about the tranqulity that we have inside us they would have fought us over it with swords.

Islamic minds like yours are disrespectful.
But given that you don't know where you're coming from then you are a waste of space, but hypocrarical and erraatic.
I have some suspisions from your comments where you're coming from.
No wonder youhave a disregard for Dubai - they wouldn't let you in?

It's not even monotheism, it's non-belief in Islam. Pure and simple. Black and white. Believer or infidel.

I agree, IMHO,patience is a virtue overlooked or dismissed in Islam-look at the number of deaths by crushing at Hajj.

Then the inability to queue or acknowledging the fairness in such,
then the road rage or the consumer race to be the first with the de rigueur gadget

These relate to culture, not religion.

I do apologise on that front Bradford is a bit wild, but the so are other places,Licester. Luton , Peterborough. They are,In my experience not the the most joyful places, but, as I say, as you find them. Perhaps I found them on a bad day and I am willing to retract my comments.
No insult is intended by anyway.
If you're upset, then I can only apologise to you again....:o

I think he is talking about Mustard Gas used by Colonial Britain in Iraq.

Fire bombings of Dresden and other cities should definitely be classified as a war crime and crime against humanity.
