Being Scottish, and obviously a font of information on all things Scottish in Dubai, I was asked over the weekend whether I knew of any pipers residing in Dubai.

I am sure there must be one or two, but does anyone have any contact details for one?

Yes lots. I know some from the caledonian society. One played at my wedding here in dubai. I will get his details and get back to you

iw as in Safa PArk about 4 months back and heard the lovely sounds of the pipes, and as I looked around there were about 30 guys in dishdash's all playing bagpipes,

what's gannin' on there then??

Omani's possibly?? The Sultan down there got well into pipe bands while schooling in the UK and there was nothing better than looking out over Ruwi, listening to the radio as the pipes hour was played.....

(God, the hairs on the back of my neck are erect just thinking about it!!!)

Ah, so true.... Did pick up the chanter for a few years but was asked to put it down... for good!!!! lol

likewise, bit of a family tradition....we all try the chanter and maybe 1 in a generation actually has any talent and goes on to the pipes
