You'd say no. A soul is something that is ingrained into the place through history, scenery, art, music, people, seasons et al.

This doesn't mean it is crap, as another poster stated Luton and Watford are virtual slums but probably have a soul.

200 hotel guests over-booked according to Gulf News and spent all day in the lobby...sounds like it was to do with the water supply failure. Yet another construction faux pas on the Palm Jumeirah it seems.

Nope I am not a shareholder, just someone who has actually been to have a look, and yes its not perfect but show me a new venture that is, its bound to have hiccups and things that dont work but they will get fixed, so like I said if people who are moaning about the way things are and havent actually been to see for themselves havent IMHO, got a say

yeah, but did you stay there? ok, you expect teething problems, but then they should charge a lower rate...friends just stayed this weekend and it was a total shambles. We're booked for early november and are seriously thinking of postponing until the new year...at something like 2,400 dhs a night, crap service really isn't good enough...

I can't find the quote, but I am fairly certain Sol Kerzner said 'we do not do soft openings' - maybe they should have a rethink. I wouldn't class paying 2200dh for a room and not having running water as a 'hiccup'. Or in the case of a family (husband, wife, two toddlers) we stood next to in reception who 'moaned' that they booked months ago, flew in from UK and they adjoining rooms they booked were at opposite ends of the floor they were on. After over a day they were still arguing to get adjoining rooms (they had obviously taken a break at some point to get some sleep).

I went and saw the rooms (not impressed), and personally think the hotel is very tacky. But I'm sure there are plenty of people here who will absolutely love it.
