Android versus iPhone

Let me sound as though I know what I'm talking about -
My Blackberry Priv has an 18 megapixel Schneider-Kreuznach lens: my pictures of sunsets are .......................................filed with all the other pictures of sunsets.
It also works as a mobile telephone.

My iPhone 7 has a good camera.
If I want to take very good photos then I have an actual camera.
Neither randomly catch fire. Bish bash bosh.

Samsung's camera is better. Can attest to that.
FYI it's the Note that catches on fire. Not the normal Galaxies.
I have a fancy camera too. But the phone cameras are now so good that I only use the big camera for very special trips / photos when I'm doing hardcore photography. Not sure if I'll buy another one when the time comes.

Even with an iPhone 6 (well behind iPhone 7 and Samsung), I'm pretty satisfied with my results (usually enhanced in-phone with PS and/or Snapseed), and Santa's going to bring me PS for my laptop. I can justify to myself a new proper camera, but have failed to convince Bahtatgirl, and since it'd be a fairly major purchase the debate seems reasonable. The camera makers seem to be going strong (innovation and improvement is quite remarkable), but if most people just learned to use their omnipresent smartphones, camera sales (and the innovation) will slow dramatically.

This is bascially a hardware vs software debate.
I have the misfortune of having both an apple and a Samsung. As I see it both are very flawed.
The iPhone has much better software. The android much better hardware.
Phones are a bit like women. At first you're drawn to the hardware but the more you use it the more you realise the software is more important.

I find that when the software plays up you are better off turning it off and trying to turn it back on if you want to use the hardware.

My niche is East Asian girls instagramming their food
at the right angle you can catch the wide eyes, the excited mouths, the salivating lips. But it is harder than it looks to make the shots seem ever so casual.
