Are you nitpicking on the use of language because of the general upbeat content of the posts here . Makes no sense to me if you are, given it is your thread.
I am sure I could produce encouraging or damning crime reports for New Zealand against % of population.
Bottom line. It is good news innit.

The post that BEV is referring to was responding to your post

I realise that you find it a challenge, but do try to keep up

As "hoping for doom and gloom" what either in the initial thread, or my posts inspired that comment ?

Now why on earth should you think that. The link I gave provides information regarding crime in any particular postcode, some will have a low crime rate others will be like hells kitchen.
I'm very happy that 'your family' and chris appear to live in almost crime free peace, though that does not reduce the national crime rate one iota.
I used to live in South East Cornwall were the crime rate is very low, but my sister lives in the north west of UK and the crime rate there is horrendous.
The link's I provided pointed out that there are 2,000 crimes of violence committed in UK every day, the fact that non of them happened in 'your' area only means that more were committed elsewhere.
By using the link I provided and being aware of the crime rate in a particular area, it's possible to reduce the chance of you being one of the victims.

1,073 crimes reported in October so my old place qualifies in the Hell's Kitchen bracket.
