I don't know but it must have been really bad! Did you steal a hankie or bunch of celery perhaps? Or maybe say that Global Warming was a scam? I know it wasn't murder or armed robbery or anything like that, you'd have been released in no time at all!

Good luck with your move. Lancashire must be a hotspot for returnees as Whofan just moved back there a couple of weeks ago.

okay, at the eight day mark and all is going very well..

The removalists picked up my 4 boxes and 2 guitars yesterday so that is my wordly possessions off into the ether which gives me 10-12 weeks to get meself sorted and into a place....

I've decided to buy a static in the short term so i can take my time finding the right pub that i want to live near whilst taking an extended holiday through europe (2 years should do it)...

The missus/er indoors/she who must be obeyed, is still driving me nuts due to her being the worlds greatesy worrier. 'course, me cracking a tinnie and smiling at her probably doesn't help...

kampaicharger..I think you have the whole forum caught up in your excitement I can even feel it here in the US. It all sounds so exciting. One question are you leaving family behind. I think the caravan is a great way to go. All those countries to explore. Such fun....Goodluck to you both

Hi Kampaicharger,

It looks like I'll be moving back too and the goods I'll be taking with me are about the same as your list of goods, a few cardboard cartons and my guitar.

How did you arrange shipping ? I've been exploring options, but because I have so little to ship, I never thought of removalists.

Any help would be appreciated,

Hino

I can't speak for Kampi, but I have a whole houseful of "possessions", the few cartons that I speak of are my personal possessions and records that I really don't want to lose, the rest of the house is just a bunch of furniture that can easily be replaced when I arrive at where I'm going.

I fail to see the logic of stuffing containers full of second-hand furniture at the cost of thousands and transporting it halfway across the world, when the saving on removalist and container costs will probably buy you a whole houseful of brand new stuff that perfectly fits your new accommodation.

What my friends and rellos want they can have, the rest I will try to sell on Gumtree and what's left goes either to the 'Sallies' or the dump.......once it's sat on the verge for two days for the scavengers to have first pick

It is tough leaving my daughter and grandchildren but you have to live your own life as well, apart from which, the plan is for them to fly over to the greek islands when we do the "grand tour" where nanny and pop can look after them for a while.

Cost me $400 plus insurance...

Use a removalist, he hires a full container (FCL) then consolidates a number of people into the one container (LCL).

6 weeks on the water plus a further 3 weeks each end for consol/de-consol by which time i should have my own place and i simply pick up from their depot.

As for how i got it down to 4 boxes, thats easy, i'm a bloke.

Well, someone has to do the worrying and that's her job! (Designated family worrier here too!). I hope she's doing OK and is as excited as you about the new adventure!

I'm in awe of your 4 boxes! I returned with just what fitted in the backpack for a holiday and though the DH packed up 3 boxes of mainly his stuff what bits he did pack for me have now almost all found their way to a charity shop - mind you we still have a house full of junk in Aus so if/when I do have to go back, having lived without it for 18 months and counting I am going to be sooooo good at decluttering!

Only a week now huh - so next weekend it will all be kicking off!!!!

That's how I managed to reduce my total shipping to four cartons too
