I think it should be preserved - you know - repaired enough for it to continue. I would love to visit, and take photos, for posterity. THANK YOU dontheturner

Hi Charleygirl, I agree with you I don't think the news has sank in yet, but try to stay strong, the one thing it will do is let them all know you are serious in your intentions, sometimes we are taken for granted and it is a case of "oh she's just talking nothing will come of it" so just maybe this will give the jolt that maybe they all need, I know when I booked our flights back to Canada, my family got a real shock, I had talked about it for so long and did'nt do anything they thought I was just talking, I am keeping everything crossed for you (fingers/toes that all goes to plan). You know maybe when you are not there the kids will realise just how much you mean to them (like with my family, they really missed us I had never been away from them in my life and they always were the most important thing to me) so when I was'nt there I think it really hit them. You sound to me like you have been there for everyone except yourself, so gw when you go home it will be your time and you will have the space and peace to find out what is best for you. We are all with you and support you in whatever decision you come to, Good luck
Denise

I totally agree with you Dontheturner, it is a disgrace that pubs like that should close down, they should be preserved it is part of the history and culture of England. Too many historic buildings are being pulled down, when you look at Brittany and Normandy in France and other parts of Europe who have preserved their buildings it is a shame to see the uk/ireland destroy theirs

I have been going back over all the posts made and have reached page 100. I was intending on putting the information all in one post but I am worried I will lose all I have entered so I am posting the first of 3 information posts for those interested. Hope it helps. Perhaps later I will go back and combine them all.

2) As to the suggestion someone posted about some sort of advice centre for the expats aged 50+ returning to the UK, perhaps SAGA may be interested and might even consider having a column in their magazine or on their website (it's an organisation for people aged 50+, I guess the N.American equivalent is the AARP - American Association for Retired Persons)
