How did you end up in the USA?
Are you planning on moving back yourself?

My daughter was never married to her sons father. I wonder if this makes a difference. His name is on the birth certificate though. He doesn't pay child support either and hasn't seen his son in about 6 years. I wonder if she bought a roundtrip ticket it would be a problem? Even though the father (sperm donor) shows no interest in his son and lives in another state I doubt he would sign, even with bribery.
Thankyou for your advice, greatly appreciated.

Does your Grandson already have both a US and UK passport?
Generally you need the signature of both parents to obtain passports for children.
Children are required to have their own passports for travel overseas.

Good luck to you. I hope you make it back home.
I'm still in the planning stage myself.

hi everyone
we live in Mississippi. My grandsons father lives in MO. we have lived here for 7 years and never once has the father visited. My daughter is going to apply for uk and us passports for her and her son. I wrote to the British consulate and they said her son qualifies for a british passport since she was born in Scotland. will keep you posted.

Is there anyone on here in a similar situation?
I'm tired of being so alone.

Minus the kids, this is me. I came here when I was 2 or 3 years old, and I've been trying to get back since I was old enough to understand where I came from! I'm 21 now, and I want to get on a plane as soon as possible- before I get too bogged down here to leave. I'm really excited to be planning to get back- I hoping to be there Summer 2013. You're so luck you can go now! Good luck!

http://www.firstluggage.com/?id=356299 they do door to door service with boxes and extra suitcases from what I can tell. Saves trying to find a friend with a big enough car to pick you up.

Wow with those prices you'd be as well sell them and replace them on your return, that's very expensive.

I had problems signing in as sirscotsalot so had to join under a different name Morayeel! My grandson got his US passport in. Now my daughter is applying for a UK passport. She had no problems getting his US passport. I became a us ciitzen Feb 15th and will apply for my US passport March 10th as that is seemingly National Passport day and they waive some kind of fee and I am off work Saturday. I will keep you updated as I get closer to leaving and then update you when I arrive and the following weeks with my transistion. I am sure I will have my share of highs and lows. I am not thinking its going to be easy but will try to stay positive..:):)

I think they are, I've just gotten into grad school in London with my four year Journalism degree. I think the degrees are generally equivalent actually. But we're all in the same boat! It's actually been really nice to find others who have been expats for most of their lives and are looking to go back :)

Does anyone know how we'd be viewed in the UK? (Sorry to hijack your thread Ribena! I may start another one, but I thought the question might be pertinent to all of us).
