Your first step would be to get the realtors in for evaluation. Get at least 3 in for different valuations. As soon as you've got an offer on paper, then you can get all the shipping and flights booked as you can dictate on the length of time "to close" the deal. You could tell the buyers that you need 30 or 60 days to close and that will give you plenty of time to get your stuff sorted. You've got a very good source of information here on Expats and if you ever need us, just ask.

All the best,

We already got the realtors in; to sell in 30 to 45 days we will have to price "realistically", hence the megga losses. Hubby is adamant that we sign the realtor papers, set up a lawyer, give over the keys and GO, by next weekend!

OMG!! He really wants to get back there quick eh! Honestly hun, and I'm trying to share with you my experience to help someone else going through a similar situation, I would say my very first step (and I'm sure others might agree with me here) would be to get your hubby to visit your GP. At least once he has the right care, things won't seem as "urgent". He will still know what he wants, but he will think clearer and can plan the move back in a better frame of mind. Please, I'm only trying to help.

Just in case you need to talk to someone for support

I also looked into that, unfortunately buy bought big; consequense, harder to let - apparently are are currently 10% sitting unlet here! Plus is would be hard to manage from such a distance. But thanks.

Hi Mrs M....I really feel for you all; it's a heart wrenching situation to be in. My OH and I were in a similar situation to yourselves when we lived here back in the 80's. We did go back, and then returned to SW Ontario a little over 3 years ago. Now I'm the one feeling the pull of Home; you may have read some of my posts about this.
Had you thought, maybe, of a house swap for a few months? Or maybe house-sitting, and putting your house up for the same? These links might give you inspiration............

Karma and hugs sent to help...well apparently I can't yet! Sent through my thoughts anyway!

Please try to avoid booking your flights so soon....things can turn around for you if you take things a little slower.
You're welcome to PM me if you feel like a chat; it's amazing how many of have been, or are at present, in your situation.

Thanks for those links, I have registered with both, but they had nothing on their data base which helped us.

As Ruby said OMG I can't even imagine how you must be feeling right now. I know a few months ago when I was feeling so homesick I thought I wanted to just jump on the next plane out of here, I felt like I didn't care if I had to live in ditch I just wanted to be back home, but I was able to start thinking a little more clearly and now we plan to go back by September. I think once my OH agreed that he thought we should go back things didn't seem so urgent and I didn't feel so trapped. I'm so glad I found this site and realized that I'm not alone. Good luck with your plans and I hope your OH is at least capable of helping with all the stuff that needs to be organized.

That's too bad. Sounds like you have a lot of weight on your shoulders, just don't try to do everything on your own if someone offers help take it and if they don't offer ask.

Moving may not fix everything, sounds like he really needs some professional help.

Yeap, the road to his recovery will not be quick. I will get him to the doctors right way! We have been down this road before, but with less complications, so we can do it again.
