Is anyone returning from Canada?

Listen, take a deep breath and don't get in a panic! You don't have to book your flights and shipping just yet....you don't know how long it will take to sell your house. At this time of year, selling a house is slow no matter where you live - even in the UK. It could take weeks, maybe a couple of months to sell up. Your first step would be to get the realtors in for evaluation. Get at least 3 in for different valuations. As soon as you've got an offer on paper, then you can get all the shipping and flights booked as you can dictate on the length of time "to close" the deal. You could tell the buyers that you need 30 or 60 days to close and that will give you plenty of time to get your stuff sorted. You've got a very good source of information here on Expats and if you ever need us, just ask.

Had you thought, maybe, of a house swap for a few months? Or maybe house-sitting, and putting your house up for the same? These links might give you inspiration............
Karma and hugs sent to help...well apparently I can't yet! Sent through my thoughts anyway!

Please try to avoid booking your flights so soon....things can turn around for you if you take things a little slower.
You're welcome to PM me if you feel like a chat; it's amazing how many of have been, or are at present, in your situation.

Hi Mrs M....I really feel for you all; it's a heart wrenching situation to be in. My OH and I were in a similar situation to yourselves when we lived here back in the 80's. We did go back, and then returned to SW Ontario a little over 3 years ago. Now I'm the one feeling the pull of Home; you may have read some of my posts about this.

I can't even imagine how you must be feeling right now. I know a few months ago when I was feeling so homesick I thought I wanted to just jump on the next plane out of here, I felt like I didn't care if I had to live in ditch I just wanted to be back home, but I was able to start thinking a little more clearly and now we plan to go back by September. I think once my OH agreed that he thought we should go back things didn't seem so urgent and I didn't feel so trapped. I'm so glad I found this site and realized that I'm not alone. Good luck with your plans and I hope your OH is at least capable of helping with all the stuff that needs to be organized.

That's too bad. Sounds like you have a lot of weight on your shoulders, just don't try to do everything on your own if someone offers help take it and if they don't offer ask.

Sounds like you need some help, is there anyone close you can talk or sound off too, thats close by?. If he wont accept help.........its an awefull lot for you to take on board on your own. You need to look after yourself, aswell.
