Default Your Expirience with Belt Wallet or Neck Pouch...

I have both, but I really never traveled before to area that was heavy
on pickpocketing.

Paris....from what I read, is pickpocketing capital of the world :-)

so, anyone wants to share which solution is better, safer?

If you had your neck wallet cut....tell us about it :-)

Not so. Many other places are worse. For instance, there have been a
lot of posts here about the dangers of the Termini area in Rome.

    >so, anyone wants to share which solution is better, safer?
I use neither, and have never had my pocket picked.

I note your previous post about bad areas in Paris. It looks like you
would be happier if you stayed home.

IMO go with a beneath-your-clothing money belt. It won't stop a
determined thief from demanding it from you at knifepoint but it will
thwart pickpockets.

Unless you are wearing a turtleneck or high-collared shirt, the strap of a
neck pouch is likely to be exposed. A pickpocket could fairly easily
slip a finger underneath and lift it out. If the strap is fairly strong
then it could act like a garrotte as the thief tries to run away with it.

I think Barcelona has a bad reputation too. Then again, it must depend.
I stayed near Termini and didn't so much as see an angry man, and I find
Barcelona fine too.

Wouldn't it be better to have your anxiety psychosis treated before
you travel?

In Barcelona, Paris, Rome and Prague, all of which have a reputation
for pickpocketing, the vast majority of visitors have no problem at
all, and if you wear a money belt and use the hotel safe for your
valuables, you reduce the chance of anything happening to you by 90%.
The usual cautions apply to travel almost anywhere in the world - don't
bring a laptop if you don't absolutely have to, be careful with ATMs in
isolated places at night, and don't leave your bags unattended even
just for a minute to go to the bathroom or to the counter in a train
station or cafe.

While pickpocketing and "bag snatching" are a problem, violent crimes
against tourists in those cities are extremely rare.

Or that you are paranoid and believe everything you hear. I've lived in Paris for almost
23 years and never, never had my belongings stolen.

Just don't go around carrying more money than you can afford to lose. A little common
sense never killed anyone.
