The Seychelles and Mauritius are popular with the Germans.

Through many years of wanting true, relatively nearby heat in the UK winter,
nowhere in the Med. provides.
We now alternate between southern Morocco and Aswan. Many other areas, of
course, along the Red Sea and Nile, but they are our favourites. We've heard
that Tenerif is OK, but it has never attracted.

Here in Italy, a lot people go to the Red Sea resorts in Egypt. Some go
to Mexico or central American beach resorts. The Seychelles are another
popular destination.
Many people in Europe go on skiing vacations in the winter. The Alps and
the Dolomites are popular.

Florida seems popular with Brits too. Also Dubai, to add to all those
mentioned so far.

Canaries are the obvious choice. I go to southern Spain where its warm
enough for brits used to the cold to walk around in t shirts while the
locals wear fur coats!

Er.........the Caribbean, Flordia (not just Disneyland). But also the
Canary Islands (cheap end of the market, but they are on the same
latitude as The Gambia and Senegal), The Gambia, Goa or elsewhere in
southern India, Australasia if we can afford it.

Actually, it's both, depending upon which coast you're talking about!
The original "Disneyland" is in Southern California, the far more
elaborate "Disneyworld" is in Florida. (What really amuses me is all
the Americans who travel to Europe to visit "Eurodisney" - as though
there weren't far more interesting places to visit, there!)

I've not been there, but I'd suspect they're no warmer than Southern
California or Florida, this time of year. Of course, all things are
relative - when I first moved to California from Minnesota (in February)
I was walking about outdoors in cotton dresses, enjoying the warm
weather, while most of the "natives" were all bundled up in sweaters and
coats!

None of the Native-Americans, AKA Indians, of California used hogans
or tipis.

The Australian Open (Tennis) in January is full of Swedish men (almost
as many as Australians). Exchange rate is very good for northern
Europeans travelling to Australia, and it's hot then, so why not?
Latest news is Qantas is about to sack hundreds of workers as travel
has fallen off because of the threat of war... sorry to get political.
