I'm not sure I understand. Is it the blank line that would signal a
sig line? I thought that the dashes indicated a sig. line. At one time
it was so, with some neolithic newsreader I used to use.

The standard is a line with three characters on it: *two* dashes,
followed by a blank.

It should only be two. When I follow up to your posts, your sig is
quoted, whereas if it's a post with only two dashes, it gets deleted,
and saves the person following up from having to.

It should only be two. When I follow up to your posts, your sig is
quoted, whereas if it's a post with only two dashes, it gets deleted,
and saves the person following up from having to.

It is in mine, but I don't think it's against usenet etiquette to put it
in the main body as well- especially if you don't use your name in the
handle, which I suppose some people think isn't kosher either.
