You betcha. Filters were not much around those days either, I presume... Maybe for
professionals only.

Can we get a look at the pic? I have been to Stonehenge twice, but only the
more recent visit with a camera. I was obviously in a bad mood (I was
really on the way to Devon and still had a lot of miles to cover) so I took
just one photograph. Middle of the day, nothing exciting with the light at
all. One of the most boring pics in my album, actually, so I can see why a
person would want to get sunrise/sunset, just to give the picture some lift.
But to be honest, there must be pics like that available on-line. Magda,
what's that photo site you were talking about? Webshots?

And I know dinosaurs roamed the earth during the Stone Age. I saw
them doing it in some movies.

because the solstice alignments are at sunrise.

Why not use a PC to insert the sun in the image in a suitably dramatic
position?

Are you even allowed to get in a position where the solstice
alignments are visible?

If you're feeling particularly hardy, you could make a trip out of it
by visiting during summer solstice and photographing the
Druidorks(TM).
see: http://www.sxc.hu/browse.phtml?f=view&id=232505

Warning: you'll have to extend the trip and camp out with the freaks.*
The police will be there in force, so keep the heroin and prostitutes
at home.

Like others have said, if you want a good photo, a sacrifice is often
required. In your case, you'll probably have to sacrifice comfort and
a day or two from your London experience.

- looking outside my door nervously, then ducking back inside and
breaking out the heroin and prostitutes.

* fortunately, I rented a car. No need to camp w/ the freaks. And my
stay in Ogbourne St. George was lovely, what with England beating
Croatia in the Euro Cup almost-finals. Even me, the only American for
miles in any direction, was treated for by feigning frothy devotion to
the team. Eng-lund, Eng-lund, Eng-lund....INGLUND!
