219 orbits, 5.8 million miles.
It is gonna cost NASA $1mil. to take Discovery back to Florida... but
hearing that unique double sonic boom again was very sweet (11 minutes
past the critical "Challenger" reentry point and 3 minutes to wheels
stop)! This was the 50th Edwards AFB landing in California.

Safer than Air France even.

What's another million, when each flight has cost 1.2 billion? :-)

Not until it's back in Florida, I saw it fly over NL on a Boeing 747
long ago.

That was my first thought, too. If the email he received contained
details
of his booking (such as "this is regarding your booking on Flight 1234
on December 5...") then it's probably legitimate, but if it was just a
form
letter with no specific details, I'd be wary unless I got confirmation
that
it was legitimate.

I agree they're expensive, but their competitors such as
Universal Studios and similar parks are also pretty expensive.
Building and maintaining those parks costs a fortune; they
are virtually like small cities. In fact, when Disney built EPCOT
at Disney World in Florida I believe it was one of the most
expensive private construction projects in the history of the
country.

Voted the best amusement park in the USA for the last Seven Years.
About $41 per day when you print tix online; under Two free; under 48"
tall (some rides restricted) about half that rate. Been to Disney in
FLA many times... Cedar Point kick's ass!

Under 48" tall is one of the criteria for being a happy Panda driver.

Only if you like roller coasters and you're only interested in
enjoying yourself during a few months in summer.

I dunno. I admire the shuttle- it's an awesome piece of technology. But,
would the BBC Lunchtime news have devoted so much time to it landing
today (it used to not even make the bulletin) if it hadn't been out of
slightly goulish interest to see if it didn't disintegrate on re-entry?

Re: Security measures?
You're speaking from absolutely no experience whatsoever again, *as
usual*. I live about Sixty Miles from the park and have been there at
least 25 times over the last Forty or so years.
Cedar point is open Six Months of the Year and has a myriad of things to
offer besides the coasters. Just read the website to note all the other
attractions you apparently illiterate and clearly foolish pundit...
