but the foolish Dutch pumped it all into the North Sea instead of saving it for

It doesn't seem to have rained as much as I'd have expected here in the
last 6 months. I'm doing that by the highly scientific and reliable "how
often have I felt I've been caught out in the rain in the last 6 months"
test.

I was judging by the number of times I've had to wear full waterproof
outfit to cycle to work :-)

That's a good gauge of it! I took my umbrella to London with me for the
week, and didn't need it. My leather jacket has made me too warm in
Birmingham today. I've got a sinking feeling it will be cold and pissing
it down in Portugal the first week of May...

The amount of rain and lack of sunshine was noticeable during the last two weeks
of March, when we were in UK. As Jeremy says it rained solid for the previous 6
months. The whole of August last year was really monsoon weather in the
Netherlands.

Where you _were_ in the UK, which is what I thought when you posted as
much then. Not much rain in much of the west, and a lot of sunshine. I
don't have a photographic memory for sure (!), but a good memory of the
weather in particular places, and checking my diary for those two weeks
just then, it was mostly very fine weather wherever I was then, which
was almost exclusively on the west.
