how to use dryer outlet in US with 220V device?

That's true of more modern "dual current" devices, but I
still have a hair-dryer that requires turning a switch to
select the voltage. (Fortunately, I never forgot, the few
times I traveled with it - now I just rely on hotels that
provide them as one of the bathroom amenities)

You can buy a whole US current dryer for about $20. That's a far safer
approach. Anyway, most hotels provide a free dryer.

adapters and will walk you though what you need.
