On the subject of touristy things (!) I've been using the "Rijkswidget"
for a few days. Very nice, but I don't like the way that you only get
extra information (usually only a few lines) on the painting of the day
by being taken to their website!

I wasn't amused to get 5 copies of the same spam from the Vincent Van Gogh
Museum yesterday, nor was I amused to find there was no way on their website of
stopping this. I'm trying to make up my mind whether to lodge a complaint with
Opta, the Dutch governement body responsible for stopping spam in NL.

It is poshibul. I stopped the cold calling/telemarketers that we got every night
at meal time by filling in a form via the Opta website around a year ago.
The spam complaint form is here
https://www.spamklacht.nl/asp/klachtindienen/klachtformulier.asp
Opta website
http://www.opta.nl/asp/en/
The link to the place to register that you don't want cold calling appears to
have been removed from the site.
Info about it here

Register not to have cold calls, junk mail etc. here

The UK equivalent (the Telephone Preference Service) has worked
extremely well for me and I've been spared the "Hi, You've won a
valuable prize" or "I'm calling on behalf of XYZ" rubbish.
Very, very occasionally I get a junk call, but all I say is "I'm a
member of the TPS" and the voice apologises and puts the phone down.
Bliss!

I find it funnier to assure them that they are really speaking to the one they seek (they
even know my middle name, FF'sS!), and then lay the phone on my lap and let them talk and
talk and talk... until they realise that no one is listening. Love it!!
