What are these ' One use teabags from Aldi ' which were mentioned ? Sound like a good idea for those of us who like loose tea - but where in Aldi are they to be found ?

I too buy tea from Aldi - although I did find the "Westminster" Earl Grey to be somewhat weaker than the M&S version....but at least it tasted "real".
At 89c for 25 bags is has to be worth a try.

I agree. I am a tea person, don't drink coffee. If I can drink it anyone can.

I was very disappointed by Aldi's version of Earl Grey. Tesco's Finest Earl Grey and Twining's are far superior.

As they say, it's a question of taste...... however, I find the Aldi version both easily available and good enough. I can't stand Twinings.

Agreed and the same applies to wine. Fortunately for us there is a small Tesco store in Almancil.

It's one of those products they only have occasionally, a few times a year. A box of 100 is around a euro.
I assume you can find a similar product from amazon or if you order tea from the Dutch shop they have them, but cost more; https://www.simonlevelt.nl/theefilters-papier-per-pot

I order a couple of kilos of tea at a time, which gets free EU postage. It comes in sealed 1/2 kilo bags, I transfer a bag to a couple of large mason jars to use.
This works out ok as we drink a pot or two daily. An order of tea lasts us 6 months or more.

The loose earl grey from Aldi isn't bad, but I don't think they have it all the time. When they do, it's in 200g (ish) bags and is quite cheap.

I can fully understand why PT tea bags are weaker since they drink it black but I didnt realise that PG tips made a specific product aimed at this. I thought all PG tips were the same.

Loads and loads of places to get tea from then, thanks to all. I think I can stop panicking now

You'll have easy access to the Lidls and Aldis in your location, but I doubt that Algarve-specific outlets won't be much use to you.

Another issue is the water you use ...... I use Pingos cheap spring water (or their filtered Eco stuff). The difference between that and tap water can be far greater than the type of tea used!

Lidl made an Earl Grey available recently which was good ("Hatherwoods" I think, box of 50, about €1.70) but their "standard" "Lord Nelson" teabags don't hit the spot for me at all.

Be prepared to kiss a lot of frogs!

Brita jug is already a necessity here as the water is so hard the kettle dies if not

That's an important point about the water.
Our tap water is awful; differing amounts of chlorine affect the taste of tea.
So I use bottled water for tea making.
"Monchique" is current favorite.

I love this thread, three pages in two days about tea bags, you must all be English! Well so am I but I never drink tea, coffee or beer all the way for me. My husband only drinks tea so he will be looking more closely at this.

Careful now! That's quite a jump - it's not just the English who drink tea you know.......

My auntie Lizzie had 10 kids, so a gallon tea pot was on the go constantly!
