All medical facilities in Marikina require mask wearing. Within NCR I can understand the wearing of masks to reduce the effects of pollution from road vehicles and in particular jeepneys

You have said that before but I saw a US study which concluded basic fibre masks gave little protection against diesel particularates. N95 respirators were by far the best. Not sure but maybe the black soot from the old Jeepneys here is large enough to be kept out by cloth masks. But smaller sizes no.
Yes, some may believe they help and kept masking after the Pandemic acute phase for that reason. But I think many are still unnecessarily scared of infection as where we live there are few old Jeepneys, trikes etc running around. Yet you can often observe locals masked up. Old and young.I think some told to by ermployers.
The Jeepney's place taken by many 2 person electric taxis buzzing around. We used to live in another rural ocation near a busy road and you would see a layer of Jeepney soot build up on window sills and screens. Not seen where we live now.

New cases 2,725 (1,821)
A 50% increase (36%)

16 deaths announced.
No information on when they occurred.

Last 2 years. The graph up to Dec 6, when the number of cases was 1,779.
Cases on the 16th were 446.

No recent data on Worldometers for neighbouring counties.

Hospital Data

New serious cases 16 (13)
Admitted 211 (253)
ICU beds 12.9% (13.6%)
Non ICU beds 18.3% (17.5%)

Recently ICU usage has declined but an increased use of Non ICU beds.

Covid Inquiries

The BBC have put together some "highlights" of the UK Covid inquiry.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0gzgzhf

Meanwhile in Canada there is no government inquiry but they have had a Citizen's Inquiry which has published a report.
Long and quite critical.
As a example here is one recommendation on covid vaccines:

Saw an article saying that mask wearing has recently been reimposed at the PGH in Manila. But two private hospitals in our area never took the requirement away.
What is really strange are the people you see in well ventilated, uncrowded areas inside and even outside still masked up.
Even when I go out, I always put on a mask, no matter how airy or packed the place is. It makes me feel a bit more relaxed, especially since I learned that my manager contracted COVID not long ago.

A New Year but there's still the old virus going around.

But at what rate?

There was no weekly report for December 19-25 except that some sources give a new cases figure.

DOH weekly covid report Dec 26-Jan 1

New cases 3,147 (3,507) Down 10% (up 50%)

Hospital Data compared with week Dec 12-18

New cases 40 (16)
Admitted No info, (211)
ICU beds No info (12.9%)
Non ICU beds No info (17.5%)

The DOH annoyed about a rumour that a new covid wave is ongoing in Metro Manila: Seemingly wrongly attributed to a St Luke's doctor. They say fake news. Pointing to the lower case numbers. But are they giving a true picture given it was a holiday week? When social mixing is at its highest and reporting/testing is difficult or doesn't occur.

OCTA reported 19.9% positivity on January 2:

Recent fall may only be due to the holiday effect.

How's it going this week?

Jan 2: 292 cases
Jan 4 459
Jan 5 623

Elsewhere in the region Indonesia restarted reporting to Worldometers and reported 2,110 cases for last week.

Will look at some more covid news soon.

Covid is probably here to stay so in reality the world has to cope with it like it does with Influenza and Pneumonia.
The law of nature is still king. The strongest survive.

Selected covid news from You tube videos over the holidays

Dr Susan Oliver put out an excellent video after getting annoyed by anti vaxxers
claiming covid boosters are either useless or dangerous. And that those who
take them are "sheep".

She explains antibodies and memory B and T cells. Antibodies are the first line of defence and work quickly. But covid19 has a short incubation time and so the B and T cells are particularly useful against serious disease. Antibodies wane over time, hence the need for boosters. They are still useful against new variants as not all spike proteins of the antigen change.

Data from 13 US states over a 15 month time period 2021-22.
Those vaccinated with a booster were much less likely to be hospitalized. The over 65s in particular.
See video for age group charts.
No link given.

What about after covid?

https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...rticle/2794753

A Korean study:showing heart attacks 52% down.
Ischemic strokes down 60%....post covid after having had covid primary vaccination.

Autoimmune Diseases were all less of a risk after covid if vaccinated. Hong Kong data.
https://www.thelancet.com/journals/e...331-0/fulltext

A Dutch study on the covid booster for the over 65s showed nearly a 71% protection against hospitalization.
And just over 73% protection against going into the ICU.

https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...3299855v1.full

Finally, what about Long Covid?

Fully vaccinated showing a good advantage with Long Covid symptoms in an Israeli study.

More to come soon from You tube videos over the holidays, plus some statistics from the UK, Europe and The Philippines.

You tube covid videos during the holidays...cont.

Dr John Campbell flooded his channel with short interviews taken from previous interviews. He also put out more videos on his favourite topic..excess deaths. This one was was not a piece of research, but a presentation of some UK statistics.

Data from The Office for Health Improvement and Disparities 2021-22 in an article
published in a journal from the Lancet. One looking at European issues. After the data
just a call for more analysis and research. Apparently costs 4,000 pounds to publish!
Not Peer Reviewed, but that doesn't matter.

Results highlighted by Campbell:

For ages 50-64 excess deaths 15%, 25-49 11%, below 25 11%, over 65 9%.

Causes:
Heart failure 20% of deaths.
Ischemic deaths 15%
All Cardiovascular 12%
Liver disease 19%

The authors briefly review some of the possible reasons for the excess deaths Eg covid, its sequelae, health service disruption during the Pandemic, pressure of demand after. However Campbell, as can be expected, thinks there is something else at work, as excess deaths are happening all over the world. They are, although Campbell doesn't present the data showing falls in many countries last year.
"Could there be other causes operating here..." he asks. "Something that happened prior...an international phenomena...". Of course he doesn't say the V word, but it's clear what he is talking about. Most medical opinion is that the "international phenomena" are the waves of infection and its effects. But Campbell for well over a year now has shown he has either forgotten or is ignoring his earlier videos on the effects of covid infection, especially on the vascular system.

It's difficult to search through all his videos but I found these three as examples of what he was saying 3 years ago:

:

Recent excess death data

No ONS figure for w/e 15 December. W/e 22 December 4.7% but that was for only England and Wales.
Up and down as always but lower than early 2023 and 2022.

Our World with latest estimate December 3 at 8%.

Germany excess deaths surprisingly climbing after 5% and lower earlier last year.

Much of the year with negative periods. Some mortality displacement may have taken place
but maximum peak at 7%.

Highly volatile but high peaks at 11,15 and 17%. On an upward trend lately.

US with low excess deaths last year which peaked recently below 3% and are now on a
downward trend.

There are few recent articles on excess deaths in these countries. For the UK some commentators blame the strikes and long NHS waiting lists. For the Continent all you can some estimates of the contribution of heatwaves. A commentator in The Netherlands blamed the after effects of covid on the body......as distinct from Long Covid..This seems to me a reasonable cause for many countries where covid infection was previously very high, but we must await the evidence on that.
Nothing about why the US has done well lately. It should be noted that in 2022 and before in the Pandemic US excess deaths were much higher than those of most of the main European countries. So you wonder whether there is a large amount of mortality displacement going on there from those years?

As I have reached the maximum of ten uploads I will finish here and post the rest of my covid news from the holidays later.

Some more You tube videos and Philippine statistics.

Dr Wilson (Debunk the Funk) responded to a video Campbell put out 3 months ago.

An interview with a Dr Josh Guetzkow claiming vaccine manufacturing processes are unsafe. What he said went unchallenged, as usual, by the interviewer. Campbell's followers, reading from the comments, licked their lips, as the Dr divulged details from some documents he had been given. I was suspicious about him and it didn't take long for a search to find that he was a sociologist working at an Isaeli university. The nearest he had come to Health was an MA in health policy. So with also a PhD irrelevant to understanding the areas he was claiming expertise in, he had a similar relevance of his academic qualifications to Campbell.
A few other people also rumbled him in the comments, but the vast majority joined Campbell in accepting what he was saying as true..A quick look at some of his other outputs on substack reveals him as a prolific member of the anti vaxxer community.

Campbelli interview with sociologist Guetzkow about
revelations from documents passed to him concerning
the safety of vaccine manufacturing processes.

Guetzkow alarmed about the fact that vaccine manufacturers make vaccines by two slightly different processes.Type1 for trial use,Type 2 for market use.The difference is to do with something calledthe "DNA template". Which turns (transcribes) the DNA into RNA to make the mRNA vaccine.
For technical reasons Process 1 won't qualify for mass production. But is used for Phase 3 trials...although some Process 2 vaccines are also used in those trials. The two slightly differently made vaccines are tested side by side to ensure they are identical or almost identical..
Nothing sinister there. But it is not just Guetzkow who claims that it is. Claims are also made by him about high levels of endotoxins (from bacteria membranes) and bacteria.....which Dr Wilson shoots down by showing how very low their levels are. He points out many other vaccines and medical products are made with bacteria Eg insulin with E. Coli, which is also
used to make RNA vaccines..
Adverse events are continually monitored after phase 3 trials into market use. For the reason that they may not show up in a phase 3 trial population of usually 30 to40 thousand.
Last, the vaccine expert brings up the Cutter Lab incident from 70 years, when a vaccine maker failed to properly inactivate bacteria in their Polio vaccine, resulting in some deaths of children and many having a short lived polio infection.. Not sure why he would think that is relevant to mRNA vaccine production as it doesn't use a live or weakened virus.
And also because obviously that incident resulted in much stricter regulation to make sure vaccine manufacturers took all the right steps, which has been further improved in the many years that have passed since.

The second video from Dr Wilson also shows the extent to which anti vaxxers misunderstand the science on vaccines and DNA.

Dr Wilson looks at what the Surgeon General of Florida is saying and doing about vaccines. More worries about DNA in
mRNA vaccines. An FDA document talks about a theoretical risk. But the level of DNA fragments is very low, and the spike protein doesn't have cancerous elements..which "shoddy" research he says claims it does. Cellular DNA from vaccine production is extremely unlikely to be oncogenetic. Some of the research anti vaxxers quote used obviously contaminated vaccine vials. So talk of "Turbo Cancer" from mRNA vaccines is ridiculous.

Right wing politics is mixed up with anti vaxxer beliefs and followers in the US. Promoted by people like Dell Bigtree, a "Big Time" anti vaxxer, who you can watch if you want to be entertained and worried at the same time by using the link Dr Wllson provides! He has been selected by RFK Jnr, a General Election Presidential candidate for 2024, an anti vaxxer, as his health spokesperson, according to Dr Wilson.
Dr Ladapo has been talked about previously by Dr Susan Oliver in relation to using misleading statistics and non peer reviewed research. He obviously has a poor scientific understanding and/or is willing to follow the Right Wing ideology promoted by Governor DeSantis, another Presidential candidate.

Recently updated 2023 Philippines Data

According to SS the PSA announced Jan to April 2023 excess deaths at 9.156
Deaths March to April 2023 were 11,229 above the same period of 2022.

To put in perspective Philippine deaths in 2021 were about 833,000, in 2020 625,00 and in 2019 619,000.

https://supersally.substack.com/

Ischemic heart disease increasing steadily every year since 2015. Not just since the Pandemic. As SS would like us to see.

Our World ...all we have now for 2023 Philippines excess deaths. Looks likely to be much higher when all the data is in.

Thailand with more recent data and has trended down.

Malaysia a bit later and trending down.

Apart from these two SE Asian neighbours no other data from Our World.

Weekly DOH covid report

The DOH seemingly not bothering much now about covid data
The last daily case report was for January 8...502 cases.
Previously in January only:

Jan 5 623 cases and 20 deaths
Jan 4 459
Jan 2 292 cases and 10 deaths

Yesterday the DOH Secretary Dr Herbosa gave out a little information. He said cases were down 4% over the previous reporting period, by which he probably meant January 9-15. He then said that cases had risen by 10% "during the Xmas holidays", but in Xmas week they actually fell by 10%, so he must have meant 10% in the first week of January over the Xmas week.

He also said that ICU use was at 16%, about the same as in December, while non ICU use was at 21%, a little higher.

That was it. No case or death numbers.

Only Thailand keeping up case reporting lately with 625 new cases January 7 - 13.

He also said we are getting 500,000 doses of an Omicron XBB variant vaccine through the COVAX facility.
But the dominant variant worldwide is now JN.1, which has recently had a fast evolution worldwide and so is likely thought to be more transmissible. Also thought to be similar to other Omicron variants in disease severity.....mostly mild.

JN.1 has been detected here.

DOH Covid Report

Not "Died Suddenly" as there were death throws earlier in the month with the last daily covid tracker report coming out on January 11 with 502 cases.

The substitute way of reporting now seems to be intermittent announcements from the Health Secretary. The latest one seems to have been ignored by most media news outlets.

Data only from the Manila Bulletin:

January 16 to 22

New cases 2,148 Down 36% he says compared to the previous week...for which there was no data announced.

47 new serious cases.

Deaths 23

Admitted 255

ICU beds used 15.5%. About the same as for recent weeks.
Non ICU 16.2%. Down on previous weeks.

So, assuming this data is correct the Holiday Season outbreak is now well on the way down.
Though we should bear in mind no daily data is available now to check and there is a government push to move on from covid.

Data from around SE Asia:

Indonesia 1,262 cases Jan 14-20.

Malaysia 677 cases on Jan 22:

Malaysia's cases headed down to low levels.

Thailand 621 cases Jan 21-27

You tube covid videos

Dr John Campbell did another interview with Adam. Claims vaccine injury from the AZ
covid vaccine (some anti vaxxers think it is a mRNA vaccine. It is not). Talks seemingly
expertly about his symptoms and test results. Happy to strongly hint vaccine spike
proteins are to blame.

Dr Susan Oliver finds Campbell's understanding of Adam's condition greatly lacking.
Especially his understanding of antibody testing.

Campbell's hobby horse topic is.excess deaths. He devoted a video to a speech Andrew Bridgen gave to the House of Commons on January 16 in a debate:

Dr Susan Oliver responded to his speech:

Latest ONS UK Excess Deaths:

Have moved into negative territory. Although there were probably some delayed registrations from the holidays.

W/e Jan 12 -10.2%
Jan 5 -12.7%
Dec 29 -9.8%

Latest Our World in Data Dec 31 at -7%.

Dr Wilson put up a number of videos recently on Robert F Kennedy's book about Dr Anthony Fauci. Head of the White House coronavirus task force. Quite long videos. If you can only watch one this one on the covid pandemic is the best:

COVID NEWS UPDATE

First, no Philippine covid data has been released for over a month.
No more announcements from the Secretary of Health.
In the Asian region on Worldometers only India is still reporting daily.

Some recent You tube videos:

Dr Campbell seizes on a British Heart Foundation press release headlined by saying they have seen a rise in early heart disease to a 14 year high.."More analysis is needed to see what is driving this trend". he says. He doesn't provide a link to the press release. And as he has done before with the BHF he leaves out a key part of it....

......as they didn't mention covid vaccination as a factor!

So let's look at the latest data on heart disease in England from the Office for Health improvement and Disparities, published January 2024.

For the last 4 years heart failure above expected for most of the time. But another disease affecting the heart kills much more...

...ischaemic heart disease involves reduced blood supply through arteries reducing the ability of the heart to pump blood.
Though a falling long term trend in the excess seen.

Strokes are less common but a similar.trend over time.

While there how are the trends for some other important causes of death?

For about half the period cancer deaths below expected. You wouldn't think that if you listened to John Campbell and his fellow anti vaxxers.

Liver disease deaths are lower than circulatory deaths but have also been well above expected for much of the period.

Diabetes deaths were high in 2020 and 2021 but since then have fallen substantially.

Covid just about disappears as an underlying cause for all these causes of death in 2023. Though there may be some long term effects not being picked up on death certificate..Otherwise we are left to explain the still present excess deaths, especially in heart disease, by missed diagnosis and treatment and the effects of big waiting lists and strikes on NHS standards of service. Possibly also a little by bad health habits picked up during lock down

Though the UK seems to be now entering a period of low or negative excess deaths.

For January weeks the ONS UK excess deaths have been:

w/e 26 Jan -9.2%
w/e 19 Jan -12.7%
w/e 12 Jan -10.2%
w/e 5 Jan -12.7%

Latest alternative numbers from Our World:

Dec 24 13%
Dec 31 -7%

Possibly some mortality displacement from 2023 deaths making these negative figures somewhat larger in early 2024.

An ex US Air Force Major Tom de Haviland is the latest non medically qualified guest of Dr Campbell for interview. He got some white rubbery blood clots from corpses taken out by an embalmer who, "died suddenly", well that's always the case these days! He says a pathologist from Idaho has some theories about them after they were analysed in a lab.. Otherwise the ex major talks a lot of biochemistry which we non qualified, including Campbell, cannot surely understand, to suggest linkage with covid vaccination. But we should note he was terminated from the US Air Force for not getting jabbed. He says embalmers have found lots of them in newly deceased corpses. If true that would probably make them the cause of death. But this idea is challenged by Dr Susan Oliver (see later about that).

Dr Campbell is never slow to miss an opportunity to claim discovery of a new disease. He gets on a Funeral company boss from Milton Keynes. Another anti vaxxer who famously was hospitalized for covid and then taken out against medical advice with the help of some friends, as he wasn't happy with his treatment.
His embalmers have reported white rubbery clots too. Though unlike de Haviland he didn't get them analysed by a lab. Says he did get one looked at by his local pathologist who sent it back saying it was normal and wouldn't discuss it with him further.

Have got to the limit here of10 pictures so will continue later on these clots and other interesting and relevant You tube videos.
Plus some updated Philippine data.

COVID NEWS UPDATE cont.

Continuing on these clots seen by embalmers...

Dr Oliver dealt with these clots a year ago when the video "Died Suddenly" came out. They took up a part of the video.
The BBC reported on it and found most of the cases were fabricated. I reported on it here,
She says that type of clot has always been seen in corpses. She shows a table from a medical text book clearly saying they are only seen post mortem:

She thinks that embalmers became shocked at what they were seeing as during the pandemic the time taken to start the embalming process grew longer. In that time the clots developed more in blood vessels as part of the body's decay process. Also that some covid deaths can be caused by blood clots. I have looked for some pictures of these and there are many different types, but not any long and rubbery ones. Not white either.
But this debunking article deals with that:

https://healthfeedback.org/claimrevi...t-demonstrate-
link-between-blood-clots-and-covid-19-vaccines-epoch-times/

It says the white rubbery blood clots caused by the body's inflammatory response to covid are similar to those seen in the obese, sedentary people and smokers. The white colour indicates loss of red blood cells. Arterial clots contain more fibrin and fewer red blood cells. Over time the fibrin increases, making the clot more chain like and tough. Fibrin was found in the US tests.
The article seems to be from a reliable source and does not uphold the claim that these clots are caused by covid vaccination.

Looking at it another way, given the billions of covid vaccines given and the number of vascular and other operations undertaken around the world in the last 3 years you would have expected an outcry from at least a few hundred physicians by now about seeing unexpected clots in patients. But all we have are a few US and UK embalmers and some unqualified people analysing what they find.in the morgue. In a fairly low percentage of corpses. This could well be consistent with the numbers dying from covid, other diseases and the lifestyles noted above. Delays in the morgue hasten the development of a tough, rubbery quality. The usual counter argument from anti vaxxers that it's all a conspiracy and cover up has for obvious reasons even less credibility with this claim than the low level it normally has.

Dr Oliver blasts anti vaxxers about their false claims reducing MMR vacine uptake.
Important as one of the most infectious diseases is making a comeback. This BBC news item gives some details about a concerning situation in Ireland and some measles hotspots in England:

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-68237808

Dr Campbell can't leave myocarditis alone...but it's always the rare cases after covid vaccination. He invited a prominent anti vaxxer, Dr Peter McCullough, a renowned cardiac surgeon who went rogue with covid. Making many false claims.
And Campbell showing clearly he will lie to further his anti vaxxer campaign. He introduces him as a cardiologist and.....an epidemiologist! The latter he is certainly not.
McCullough's on safer ground here with autopsies. But he uses them to claim that myocarditis is far more of a risk after covid vaccination than after covid infection. In contradiction to several large studies. One S. Korean study on the whole vaccinated population of over 44M came out at 1.08 persons per 100,000. Shown by Campbell 7 months ago, but nothing heard from him here on that in the discussion or on similar findings in other studies. Perhaps because in the video he concentrated on the percentage of those cases classed as severe, glossing over the small number. Although many doctors, medical scientists and even me have pointed out to him his misrepresentation of myocarditis after vaccination.

Dr Wilson tackles a revival of a familiar anti vaxxer claim they never give up on. That the MMR vaccine caused autism. He debunks this easily as the authors dosing of mice was not a good choice to apply the results to humans.

Super Sally has been reporting on updates to some Philippine statistics lately:

Final FDA Pharmacovigilance report:

There have officially been 2,864 deaths in total. Not broken down by brand.
SAEs 26.5% of total AEs.
Average age 59.2 years.
Janssen highest percentage of SAE.

The National vaccine Information Service in the US gives statistics on US vaccines administered overseas:

Jansse

Janssen again fared worse for serious adverse events.
AZ vaccines were monitored despite them not being administered in the US and not from there, for some reason. They had the highest percentage of total adverse events.

Timing of vaccine rollout by brand:

Coronavac was dominant early on. But we know it was less effective. So likely a cause of the huge official 43% excess death tally in 2021 Pfizer then took over and helped bring the excess deaths down in later years.

Vital Statistics update:

Births

SS says they are getting "better" or increasing with updates. She thinks more late registrations will come in for 2021 and
boost that year's total.

In 2022 58.1% of births out of wedlock.

COVID NEWS UPDATE cont.

Philippine deaths update:

2022 deaths are lower than 2021, but higher than in the other years. SS thinks that is symptomatic of a large number of "intervention" caused deaths. Not to do with delayed health effects from the pandemic.
An interesting thing is that 2021 deaths have not been updated since March 31, 2022. Final death numbers for the latter months of 2021 are still not in. SS thinks this is deliberate as they would further worsen the already very high 2021 excess death rate.

As in the UK ischaemic heart disease is the leading cause. Other circulatory diseases together are also high, as in the UK. Seemingly neoplasms (cancers) and strokes relatively higher here?

Women faring better than men except in the highest age group.

Last, what's happening with he House of Representative's Public Safety Committee inquiry into covid?
Nothing. Although I see it did meet for the first time this year earlier this month.
Looks like their inquiry has been shelved. SS saying nothing about it,
As predicted!
