Also has the advantage of placating China after the recent S China Sea ruling.
May have to regularly check they haven't flogged or pawned it.

Impossible to get a spouse visa unless the financial requirements are met.He can apply a visit visa provided he can convince UKBA (unlike me/my wife),that she will return to Philippines after 6mths max.

Greetings again,
My lovely lady has no great desire to visit the UK, which I found surprising and a little disappointing. She said maybe in 10 or 20 yrs time which I guess means never. I cannot get a straight answer about the reason why, but I think its because she thinks she will die within a day or two of stepping on English soil. Why? Simple. She will not be able to eat 3 buckets of rice per day and it will be cold and rainy. She also likes to get up at 5.30 each morning and go to bed early. I have told her that there are plenty of Asian restaurants about where she can get one fix per day of rice. Rain is a big problem for her and the maxim of *you only get once* is met with a blank expression.
Rain is a big no no for her. From rain, you can get all sorts of diseases ranging from Dengue to the Black Death. In fact, you can tell where we sit at a table on the beach because there is a deep furrow in the sand where we constantly traverse from table to restaurant and back when she thinks she felt a rain drop. Even though the amount of rain that falls is not enough to wash a mosquitoes underwear, it is dangerous and we must avoid at all cost. However, that all changes when its hosing down outside. If a couple of kids here are frolicking about in the rain, then she quickly dismisses thoughts of Dengue and the black death. She quickly changes into her bikini and frolics with them. I think the 20 -30 selfies provides some sort of protection ......but there you go. Another example of pinay logic.
I have no great desire to go back to the UK yet for a visit, although I do miss my sons a lot. When I do decide to go back which will be after divorce etc, I shall ask her to come with me. But I wont insist she comes. But it should be interesting because I believe she still thinks I want to go back to my estranged wife. The last time she thought I went anywhere near her was when I in the Uk and was met with a fb reaction from her. Her profile pic changed to a graphic photo of a cut wrist c/w blood and a razor blade. She threatened self harm but that's a story for another time. Happened 3 times....and only once here.
Visited her fathers house today. They are definitely moving. When I jokingly said that not many houses have a swimming pool, it was met with a baleful stare from her. They don't understand British humour....sadly. I mentioned previously that they are short of money. Her father stunk of perfume or whatever. He smelt like a gay brothel. Must quickly add, I have never been in one. My lovely lady is also an Avon rep and sold him expensive smellies. Just shows how devoid of money they are. Or logic.
Regards and thanks again

Dale
We are in the multinlupa area
Water supply has never been better in the last 4 years with Maynilad being the supplier. High pressure and clean. The number of times that water disruption occurs is minimal and we are given 48 hours notice to top up containers in the case of such an event.
Longest out time was for 36 hours whilst main ring repair was being undertaken along the coastal highway.
Most hotels do not have a back up water supply. the cheap hotels may have had access to the groundwater supply, dirty and unsafe even for washing in. Cannot think of a serious hotel that is not mains connected with roof reservoirs to ensure reserves and great water pressure.
Most hotels have a back up power unit
They call it brown out as low voltage dims the lights and that seems to be the reasoning that the extension of brown out is power cut.
Well known fact here is that if you go to sleep with your hair wet, you will wake up blind.
As for skin whitening products, welcome to SE ASia
No idea what an after shave balm is, I just splash it it on all over and enjoy the 'sting', ensures I am awake and alive.

Thanks for responding. I use mineral water even for brushing teeth, just to be on the safe side. However, I'm such a germaphobe when over there because I'm always worried of getting sick and not being able to make the flight home. Interesting what you say about a reliable, clean water supply (and I believe you), and as I stated, she is inclined to over exaggerate at times. Yes, the desire for white skin probably isn't exclusive to just Phils,in SE Asia.Aftershave balm is a moisturizer that I apply after the actual aftershave to soothe my skin and it has some ingredients also found in aftershave. It makes sense, your reason given for why its called a 'brownout' and thanks for explaining it. Where in Lupa are you? She lives in a subdivision off the National Road.

Living in Manila or another major city I would not use roof water for anything except flushing the toilet due to pollution.
As for whitening potions/creams/pills here most contain arsenic and/or mercury both of which are very effective at whitening skin but also have a serious effect on ones health. "Mad as a Hatter" came from the hatters in Victorian times who polished hats with mercury to give them their shine. Arsenic was used as a cure for syphilis and turned the teeth enamel blue ( or green I can not remember )

Living on the edge of the jungle in Capiz, during the rainy season the only time I sometimes put the bore pump on is wash day. Rain water from the roof fills all the tanks, with the exception of drinking water, is used for everything else. My next door neighbour used to ask if she could get some water as she and her child were allergic to rain water, little did they know that what they were getting was 99% rain water, her son told my wife that our bore water was the best he had tasted. After 5 years I did tell her that is was mostly rain water she was getting.

We had house in Munti (never heard anybody before call it 'Lupa, sounds like a disease!) back in the 90s. Had a deep well and we drank the water, after having it tested. It did need to be refrigerated first to improve the taste. Towards the end of our stay there it got a bit contaminated and we had to drill down further. Probably due to too much extraction by industry nearby.
Now we're in Tagaytay and I drink the subdivision water. It definitely tastes better than Maynilad's. And at a fraction of the cost in the UK. But, as is the way, my wife insists on drinking Crystal Clear!
Also, from my experience the taste of tap water varies a lot in the UK. For me soft London water doesn't taste good, but go north to hard water areas in Hertfordshire and it's much better.
