NZ Housing is simply Disgusting - the most annoying thing to me.

Crap NZ furniture. they are ugly.

driving? I don't drive. hardly ever. coz I don't wanna kill/injure myself by stupid idiots.

Made in China rubbish

disorganized public hospitals - lack of specialists - its serious.

Hmm, I like to think of it as balance. I will never forget the emigree who came on here and scorned the likes of us regular posters for not 'warning' her and her family agin the evils of NZ, she eventually pissed off such was here chagrin for NZ but not before she had a good whinge about how it was our fault. Did not realise that was part of my job description but I took it on board and now will spout almost endlessly about the good, the bad and the ugly of NZ.

Re the housing. You can sort some of the issues fairly simply with not much cash. Buying 2-3 2nd hand dehumidifiers will cheer up ANY home's internal atmosphere.

I am talking about the _quality_ of the house. - crap painting, shabby old cheap materials etc . well I find still .. not very pleasant.

The drivers , drunk or otherwise. It is truely frightening out there.

The cars, modified peices of junk driving by spotty teens with a serious bad attitude.

Boy racers who think its essential to make their car 20 times as loud as normal.

Drivers who think that speeding away from police is the norm, and regularly kill some innocent sod.

A police system that tolerates all the above.
Complete lack of any justice system.

The locals - serious lack of conversation, humour, comaraderie and culture. If it wasnt for the immigrants, it would be absolutely dire here.

The remoteness and complete lack of anywhere worth visiting after you have been here more than 6 months.

The "pubs'. The best ones are like the worst ones in UK, and there arent many of them at that.

The houses. Overpriced pieces of leaky and cold junk, for the most part.

The dress sense. Ha what a laugh.

I think that's OPSM as I have seen / heard that advert - what they're actually saying is nothing but a Kiwi owned company is good enough for Kiwi eyes and all these foreign upstarts like Specsavers haven't got a clue. :frown:

I'm guessing you don't have Maori or Pacific Island friends then?
I do, and they are deeper and more cultural races than the bigots I used to work with.
Not that I'm calling you either insular nor racist, but mayhaps a slightly more open mind may make life a little less tall poppy.

Well I am not an Aussie as you know but geez I have just read the thread from the beginning and the sentence of the day has to be ......

Superior and inward looking attitude that NZ is 'Godzone' and everything in it is better than anywhere else in the world.

Hope that doesn't spoil the thread but Bo I know you tend to see most things NZ as negatives, but I see black pots in my third eye when I read that sentence.

And another one:

The Criminal Procedure (Reform and Modernisation) Bill which basically takes away the right to elect for trial by jury for any crime that is punishable with a prison sentence of less than three years. That's a direct breach of the NZ Bill of Rights :sneaky:.

It also requires the defence to disclose issues in dispute before a case comes to court and it erodes the right to silence.

Previously acquitted people can also be re-trialled if new evidence comes to light.

There are a whole load of other civil rights issues too.

The vice-president of the New Zealand Law Society said the Justice Reform Bill will set up an "efficient regime totalitarians dream about," and I agree with her.

What's it going to do other than squeeze some more people into the already full prisons, it's not addressing the reasons for crime at all.

The most uncool thing about NZ IMHO is that we don't have a "Bill of Personal Responsibility" ;)
