That's me told.

As for finding it funny surely the smiley indicates more confusion than finding humour in a situation

Perhaps you should also refer to a dictionary for the alternative meanings of the word funny.

As in "the picture was at a funny angle"?

I wouldn't say the "angle of the picture confused me" would I? So I think you may be using it slightly out of context.

Fanks 4 da English lesson tho.

Substitute the word 'funny' as in odd (peculiar) for .............. 'odd'. That'll sort it.

I've picked up the odd hitchhiker on the R60. There are a couple of regulars that clearly have no vehicle and need to get from A to B so thumb a life. NOt much in the way of public transport for them.
One is an old boy who walks several Kms to the road from his property. If I see him, I pick him up even though he can pong a bit.

If you don't mind me saying so the crime over there is really putting me off living there. Look I know every place has its problems and nowhere's perfect but New Zealand rightly or wrongly has this reputation over here for being soft on crime. There's a constant drip of stories about New Zealanders being involved in crime over here too and the occasional piece about the latest crim to be deported back to New Zealand when they're released from jail.

We've decided to pass on the chance to live in Hamilton, not just because of crime but because we've also got the chance of another position over here with better benefits. Thanks but no thanks.

Did you make it there?

It's funny (see what I did there), I've only ever been in Australia on holiday (3 weeks in 2006, 6 weeks last year) and I've experienced and been a victim of crime in Australia more than I have in any other country in the world, including the two countries I have ever been in residence; the UK and NZ.

Basing things on crime rates (unless it's somewhere like Caracas) seems like one is creating a reason not to go somewhere. Generally speaking NZ is hardly a hive of criminal activity. Having said that, if you want to get involved with crime and subsequently the law there are places you can do this.

My personal experience of crime in Australia hasn't put me off considering a move there in future.

Crime happens.

I guess if crime was an issue for me I would look up the statistics to see if it was a problem or just media hype. I used to live in London which every one thinks is a dangerous place. Where my brother lives in East London it's pretty bad, but my part of the woods in Kingston was very low in crime. The stats are pretty easy to find and compare.

Oddly enough all you ever hear about in Queensland are bike gangs, tourists being murdered and corrupt politicians.

Crime in NZ or Australia is just not even worth worrying about.
