So I wonder how many years of making pack-ups I've got left?

Don't think about it you'll only get depressed :(
Some schools do have a canteen/tuck shop kind of affair and their options are getting healthier ... it was all pies and pot noodles at one time.

lol.... well, my lad seems to get more junk food in his lunch box than the kiwis... they pack a sandwich and a piece of fruit or raisins. I pack him a sandwich, some fruit and a biscuit. I think I'm the only one who puts a biscuit in his pack-up. I'm a bad mummy!!

mmmmm...pies.... everyone looks at me and asks me if Ive eaten all the pies.... I've got used to it now and just reply.... yep, I've eaten the lot, cant you tell?

The thought of my children having to go back to UK and the education system there fills me with dread.

Have you tried the kumara and pumpkin pies ... they are to die for but very fattening I imagine.

No, I havnt... I've never seen one either. We have a pie shop in the village and their steak pies are soooooo nice... I'm trying to limit myself to going there once a week. My son likes a hotdog which is a battered sausage on a stick.

Madrid gets really cold in winter too !
Auckland is on same latitude as Sevilla, where it is regularly 40 degrees in summer, the very top North of NZ is equivalent to Fez in Morroco! No wonder you need lots of suncream

Madrid's at a higher elevation and pretty much on an inland desert, though, isn't it? Anyway, just saying. When I clicked on Wellington (thanks for that link, btw, I had it on my old laptop, then lost it when I got a new one, it's fun! :) ), my link ended up between Vallodolid and Zamora in Spain, a little north-west of Madrid. Now I knew that Wellington was roughly on the same latitude as Madrid, but I didn't realise it was basically opposite it in the world. Too cool! :) Thanks sprout. :)
