No! Well, not in this area anyway. It gets dark around 5, I know this because it is only just dark as I leave work so when I turn the lights off I can still see my way to the door, set the alarm etc!
What we dont have is the long twilights/dusks in the summer evenings, it seems to go from light to dark with out much in between, if that makes sense! :o

Because we are nearer to the equator here than UK, in the winter the days are not so short as UK and in the summer the days are not so long as UK..... thats a lot of UK's in one sentence.. :)

*Looks in Atlas...* Wellington is roughly at the same southerly latitude as Madrid is in the northern hemisphere. :) That has to be good for something! :D

I thought of something else... which way around do Kiwis do the day and month? It confused the crap out of me for a few years when I moved to the US as they do mm/dd/yy, as opposed to dd/mm/yy in the UK.

Which way around is it in NZ? Thanks!

Has anyone mentioned that you seem to go through a lot of car windscreens over here too ... my last one took eight weeks to be delivered from Japan :scared: Glad my insurance covered it!

The schools don't provide cooked school lunches, mostly you have to send your kids with a pack up ... I hate making sandwiches after three years now

Dont they? I didnt know that. I was surprised when I first took my lad to PlayGroup and at 10am they all sit around a low table and open their morning snack boxes. I've got used to making him a pack-up now for PlayGroup. Back in the UK when he went to PlayGroup they used to provide squash and biscuits for them. So I wonder how many years of making pack-ups I've got left?
