Ted the JAFAs don't believe there's anything worth while South of the Bombay Hills.! The South Islanders are quite independantly minded from the North.

I know.

Think we like Tauranga and surrounding areas the best, but loved the hot Pools in Rotorua.

Hi, pre-booked the car from A2B rentals. They pick you up from the airport and take you to their depot(about 10mins).
Hired a small 4 door car, auto, air con etc, for $27/day unlimited milage.
All the cars are recent Jap Imports, nothing fancy but ok.

As for accommadation, there is plenty, didn,t book anything just stopped in.
Found nice motel rooms in Hamilton & Tauranga for $110/day. These have double bed, spa baths , tables & Chairs, Kitchen with all facilities, very clean.
All say they have larger suites with extra bedrooms for slightly extra cost.
I think there is cheaper but didn,t want to risk it.
Treated myself to a cracking place in tauranga central area for $130/day plus the contents of the mini bar!
