Default Paying UK tax when in NZ?

Has anyone investigated this issue? I are off to NZ for a year or two. The proceeds of the house sale will be sitting in a bank account here (I am a taxpayer). I will be holidaying/home studying in NZ.

My q is - should I tell Revenue & Customs that I am not in the UK? Will this let me avoid paying tax on the savings?

I will research online, just wondered if anyone else has useful experiences to share
