Vanity plates are big business in the UK, such that the DVLA sell the more interesting ones each time they change for quitge big premiums, obviously the more unusual the more they cost.

The best one I've seen to date was back in 1993, a big old Ford estate car with EGO 911 as the original number plate. I assume the number plate was worth more than the car. (If someone wanted to buy it to put on their Porche 911 that is)

I knew a bloke who purchased the number plate: TOY 911 which apparently came from a lorry.

I remember seeing HOP 1N in August 1974, on a brand new red MkII Ford Capri. That was the month it was issued, and I often wondered how the owner came to have acquired such an unusual registration.

Growing up just north of London in the early 80's there was an estate agent who had a red (of course) Ferrari with the reg BEG41T. Suppose it was the time of excess!

I've said it before but this one tickled me no end on an Audi:
I Q7 I !
Sums up the mentality of that SUV driver.

Decades ago I used to daily walk past THE 911S in London, looked good on a 911, less so on an Astra that he/she changed it to....guess hard times hit?

Our local plumbers have things like WCFIXA, H2OMEN and POOMEN on their vans.
I just bought AUDI 00 for my project car. (Sorry)
