Re: ANY TIPS FOR KEEPING COOL!!
On the whole yes in North, not bad here in the South, although when my OH worked in Lake Tekapo it was not unusual to get to minus 10 during the day but then that is lake and mountain area so to be expected. I have to say, not needed a winter coat even here in the South since we arrived in 2006. Just a fleece and a scarf. We have it soooo good don't we LOL !! Poor old blighty people.

Re: ANY TIPS FOR KEEPING COOL!!
I was just wondering if anyone had any greats tips on keeping cool in this mad heat. Got to 40 today here in Chch and it is going to be 21 tonight. Sleep does not come easily in this heat even with the windows open. Apart from the obvious, putting on the air con in the living room (don't have a heat pump bedroom end of the house) does anyone have any tips to share on staying cool?
Thanks
Thanks
We live in Cyprus with the British Forces but due to arrive in Welly in Feb. It gets VERY VERY hot here in the summer and i agree with everyone about keeping curtain/shutters closed. The best tip i ever got was from my Midwife while i was 9 mths pregnant in 45deg heat (we never has air con, only ceiling fans). Have a cold shower just before going to bed, don't dry yourself but put a towel on the bed and just air dry while you drop off. It works a treat try it.
