Why do you never hear about those that return

My life is just about to start again and this time I will make the most of it
I would love to be back by Christmas. It seems such a long way away at the moment but I am sure that it will fly.

I will certainly be happy to talk about my experience here in Australia (I've had a good one
) and would never dissuade anyone from doing the same, but I would also highlight the realities of such a venture and that (gosh dare I say it) people do return.
I just wondered does anyone feel the same?

I still get itchy feet, but it's a big world. I content myself in the knowledge that I know what I have and I am enjoying my life.

maybe i just didnt want to listen at the time.....!

It's times like these when I wish I was home with friends and my family to support me, instead of feeling very alone and isolated. We've had many problems, mostly $ related in the past year due to my wife starting a business with her mother (who lives with us, god help us), I'm working two jobs and every evening the bill collectors call. Nightmare.
Good advice from Shelly, I just thought I'd send you some karma

Just wanted to say a big 'thank you' to those of you who have offered support. It means a lot.

I came back to Britian from living in Canada (Vancouver/Burnaby) a year and a half, I didn't miss Britian massively, but there were definate things I missed. But since I`ve been back in the UK, I don't miss Canada at all! the Greater Vancouver region is like one big endless sprawl, and I`m happy to be out of it.
I found Canada had too many silly laws, road rules, politics, attitudes... Great as a life experience, but I wouldn't want to live there forever.
Then there's all the issues of not being a citizen, pension and tax problems, various problems if you lose your job (especially if you are on a HRSDC like i was).
All in all, it seems safer and more comfortable being in my native country.

I know a really nice couple who rent houses.
We're renting off them at the moment, they we're strangers to us when we returned from Canada,
i phoned up their ad in the local paper and that was it, they've been absolutely fantastic couldn't do enough for us, they furnished the house all new knowing we'd lost everything even down to knives and forks, plants, candles the lot they've been fantastic.
If any one's stuck for somewhere to go let me know, they have nearly new properties all over west Yorkshire.

If Diamonds doesn't have anything in the area you need, hubs says to give them a call and ask them if they know anyone who does.

Try www.rightmove.co.uk
They have rentals and buys, I've just had a look at S wales and it brought quite a lot up of different price ranges.
If your struggling phoning or contacting from your side let me know if your interested in any of the properties i don't mind giving them a quick phone call.

Thanks for the help, Shelley and Scout!
My hope is to find somewhere convenient to the U. of Glamorgan (so, relatively close to Pontypridd).
Spoke (MSN) to my brother yesterday and he is going to rent a van and pick up me and the pooch from LHR and take us to S. Wales, like a little road trip. We'll probably find some short-term accommodation (holiday cottage or something) for the first few days while I look for a car to buy and a house to rent.
Ideally, I'd like to find a good agent on the ground there (like Diamond's - their site looks pretty good from a quick poke around this a.m.) who will LISTEN (not something I find real estate agents do very well) and have suitable properties lined up for a 1-day or 2-day viewing bonanza.
My other headache is finding a stay-at-home person to dog-sit for me. Last time (Scotland), an unemployed single mother across the street picked up Suzy every morning and kept her until whenever I got home. Here in the US, she's perfectly happy to be in the back yard all day and watch the world go by but UK gardens are too small, with high fences - so she barks all day (according to one of my former neighbors in Scotland).

my container has gone missing. i am in a completley empty house with 2 small kids. i really couldve cried and got straight back on the next plane - but u know what..family came round with portable tv, my sister was a star and bought kids bedroom furmiture, OH friend came round with a sofa, another friend came round with a table. then 2 more friends came round with paintbrushes and did the house with me to make it look better for the kids. the school had got second hand uniforms for the kids so they were wearing trhe same as the others for their first day back.
and you know something? none of these people live in such big houses as there were in oz, or have so much free time/disposable income...but they were there...when i most needed them. thats what makes it worthwhile
its then u realise the importance of people u love
