Back to the consulting here ,so things are considerably better financially, still have the house in NZ and intend keeping it.
For what we paid for it, it wouldn't get you a 1 deb flat here, so like the idea of keeping a nice 5 bed coastal property as a holiday home.
Living in a large 500 year old farmhouse near where I grew up. Family down the road, etc, etc. Love England now, loved it before, but now have NZ as a second place to live, as I love that place too.
Daughter at school so dificult to juggle the 2 right now...
Have decided I can quite happily live in either NZ or the UK. Two great places...

Do you know, I never thought of doing that but its a great state of mind to be in. I feel similar, I can't wait to go back for a holiday and know I can come back here anytime.

?I don't need to live in Germany though as it is so close to England for me to visit (in fact spend my week here) on a regular basis.

Germany is a nice place too. Hence, I had no probs coming back out here, but we are basing ourselves in England for the time being.

I guess for us we left NZ to be nearer family and I guess make some more money, so England was the logical choice. plus the familiarity is comforting

We miss nothing about OZ now, although it would be nice to have a good outdoor swimming complex like the ones they have there - we did have a nice enough summer in the UK this year to have been able to use it. I wouldn't really say I missed anything but if I had to say then it would be my best Aussie friend and the kangeroos. It was also nice to be close to the lovely beaches.
We missed to much of the UK to list but starters was the familiarlarity of the place. Missed friends and family formost and our daughter missed her grandparents very much. I missed the countryside that I ride in and missed my horsey friends.

I have made the return to england, although that was when i was a teenager so it was more my parents decision. After 9 years in San diego my mother decided that the states wasnt the best option so we returned to england. I really think a big part of that was a decision on her part to raise us in a family environment which we all but lacked in the states. School (6th form) was difficult for me, so my mother moved us back to canada (having lived there for a period prior to the american experiment). I am finishing up university now, and thinking about where i want to live. my mum has since left canada and returned to england where she has happily lived for the past 4 years. I may return to england, cause i have come to the realization that canada is not for me, or maybe i will follow my parents example and move somewhere new, perhaps aus, or NZ.
Many of the English families we knew in america have since returned to england. For alot of them they get to a point where they miss home and family.
Cheers,
Paul
