Yes, Perth is the land of the living dead. And when I question Perth people about it they say they like the trading hours (only one late night opening per week). They say it makes them unique. I also think it makes them unique, though not in the way they think.

Yes, the Qld mentality is similar. If you don't like it "f-off home" etc etc. And this is to those from Sydney and Melbourne who have moved up here  and who dare to query the appalling infrastructure, congestion, lack of public transport, lack of water etc!!! They call those who have moved from interstate "mexicans".

Thankfully we have had sunday shopping for about 7 years now though.

Crikey, your'e brave! We have been here over 4 years and have never done camping or bush! Hubbys been fishing though. My days are spent sat in front of the tv or trawling the local mall which has, yes you've guessed it, the same shops as every other mall. I never thought I would say that my life was more exciting in the UK. Suddenly having a drink in a little country pub seems like paradise.

Those stickers sooooooo get on my nerves. Even my kids who are 5,9 have seen them and think they are so rude. To me it just makes Queenslanders come across as really agro and single minded not to mention unwelcoming.

What infrastructure? I lived in South Africa in the eighties and early nineties and we had more infrastructure over their back then. I couldnt believe they dont even have a train from the airport to Melbourne City Center.WTF

Melbourne is/or was for years the most livable city- Number ONE, Aussies are very proud of this, living in "the best city", having only "sky bus" from/to the airport, and Terminal 4 - Tiger airways arrival hall is built of few portacabins (toilets) and a roof and nothing more. I have seen better airports in 3rd world countries.

Oh to right...or for me a trip out to the other towns.....Chester, Buxton, Liverpool......I took that all for granted...try doing the "Shopping Malls" after 10 years here.........it's worse as you really do know that here in W.A unless you want a really loooooonnnnnnggggggg drive you (and then just to small places with 1 street)...you don't have any other choice.....that's scary!!!...I know of lots of people who are just happy to go to their local Mall (some hardly ever go out of their suburbs) drink in the back gardens etc and I really wish that could be us.....never was and I suppose never will be!!!!

Thats not us, either. Dont see the attraction in that at all. We have been up to Monkey Mia, down to Margaret River, we have been to every (no joke) shopping mall in Perth, been to Hillarys, Freo, Harbour Town, every Market going, you name it we have seen it. And I am still bored. 10 years on and off here and the novelty has well and truly worn off. And i speak to people here whom hardly ever leave their suburb, who have never been to hardly anywhere else in Perth, and they think that's great. They get their crates of beer and their Christmas hams and watch their AFL and all's wonderful. Im glad Im not the only person who wants more in life than that.

I remember when we fist saw stickers in the backs of cars with "I'm a Bad Bitch Back Off"....or "One Bitch of a Driver"....I was amazed (not when I saw what the drivers looked like)....or other sticker saying..."If you don't love our country....f-ck off".....really classy......and that's metro Perth!!!....might be a bit different in Sydney and Melbourne......we was on holiday in Surfers Paradise a few years ago...and even born and bred Queenslanders we got talking to could not understand why so many Brits headed fo Perth...they called W.A..."full of Hill Billy's"....and woop woop land.........we laughed as some of the things they said was true but we also saw the "Checked Shirt Goatee Brigade" in Queensland to.........
