i am home sick today and have been for a few weeks. it's central heating i miss and all my family i miss them all so much. trouble for me is the rest of the family here love it and never want to leave so i am stuck but my kids come before everything else so i just pretend and make the most of things but the weather at the moment is so cold and rainy in adelaide that it feels miserable and working with the poor makes it worse they don't have houses, heating proper food and clothes it's pathetic.....

Well not TV, but a magazine. I was in contact with them before we left and decided to sell them a story if we ever came back.
Well we are coming back and i am giving them the god damn honest truth. Even my kids will be telling all. They want juicy gossip to make the article a good seller.
I have good and bad things to say to them. Can't tell you anymore than that until i get back.

I miss so much about the UK, we had gone back previously because of missing family and then ended up back in Oz because we felt we hadnt really spent the time required here, now after 4 long years I am truly sick of the place.
Sadly we have to wait 7 months because we want to take our dog, so tomorrow he has his chip and rabies vaccine and the countdown will then start. Any advice from anyone about current situations in the UK/requirements let me know!

Yet another one leaving Perth's golden shores! Good for you

Will the last one out please turn off the lights?

We will be renting as we are poor :(
How much did Dog Tainers cost in total? Was the 65 quid just delivery from airport to you?

Yes it was for delivery to the house Tw o dogs cost us about 3,000 but they were staying in kennels for a couple of weeks whilst we got ourselves sorted out back here.

Am going to open a bank account with HSBC so that it can be transferred to the UK. Not impressed with the $120 charge though. Have decided to sell some of my furniture as it probably wont fit over there, and have already started to sell my DVDs on ebay. Am a bit worried about finding somewhere to rent in the UK as I have seen some comments regarding 6 months up front which is a bit worrying, plus we have 4 kids which might be offputting to some (even though they are well behaved and lovely).

What was the $120 fee for? Did they say they would transfer your funds to a HSBC in the UK? I'm interested as they told me I would have to do that myself.

Good luck with the house! :)

More like the 1850's......I really dislike Perth now....two agents round tomorrow....then back on the house market.......we have been here 10 years.....and truly it has not improved a great deal in that time...just daylight saving and they are trying to get rid of that!!!!
good luck

We called in to HSBC here in Perth (Garden City) and they said we could open an account here in Aus (with $1000) then when we are ready they will transfer the account over to the U.K (London, you would have to go into the branch there and pick up your cards etc...it's they only way they do it) but they said no other fee to us.........

Life here is like the "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"...people here look normal (well a small % do!!) but then when you really start to live here.....wow....it's like most Aussie's are from another planet....no make that a different Solar System............I had a conversation with one of our neighbours and I thought "Dear lord get me out ofhere...I will end up like that if I stay"!!!!! the conversation ended up about Lawn Mowers, would not mind be he was really into the types of Mowers.....he is a lot younger than me....HELP!!!!!

Apparently, the guy i spoke to on the phone at HSBC in Oz said i would need to open an account here (he emailed the relevant forms to me) then he said the International Banking Centre would contact me to arrange the UK account, and that this would cost $120 to set up. They said i could then bank with any branch in the UK.

Not bad. I am so ticked off as I took my dog to the vet today (a new vet I hadnt been to before) for microchipping and rabies vaccine and he cocked up the microchip, he thought he had injected it but 10 mins later i noticed my dog was bleeding quite a bit and there was the microchip stuck in his fur. I told the vet (who was about 104 years old) and he re did the chip with a new chip. An hour later the dog had a really big lump developing where the first chip was apparently done, so i had to take him back to the vets. They think they might have hit a blood vessel and there was blood building up underneath the surface. So now the dog is wearing a pressure bandage and is on antibiotics. And the cheeky vet said I didnt have to pay for that. Generous considering it was his fault, cheeky sod.
