I just read that Geoffrey Hughes who played the part of Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances has died. I think he was only 68. He went to the same school as me.

Just watched it finally as we were out last night and today. What fun!

I love that we showed Mitt that, not only were we ready, but that we could blow his tiny mind  I'd love to have seen his face during the dancing NHS nurses and Lord only knows what he made of the Arctic Monkeys.

The whole thing was utterly bonkers and totally genius.

Rod I know you speak the truth, Ive known many people who lived in Vegas at one time or another and they all told me the same as you, go to the places that are used by locals, not the high priced tourist traps...

The prices you mentioned are far cheaper than here in Oregon...

I bet you like those British two for a fiver pub meals...

Tell u the truth fish I would love to just once have a nice Sunday Roast at a Pub but never get the opportunity, Me Mum likes my Sunday Roasts and cooking in general, cause you see I was a Cook for 7 years at Harrahs Casino in Reno Nv before I got into the timeshare business,
So I do all the cooking at our house :) Ive tried everything to get her into a Pub for a meal any day of the week but she says no I likeyour cooking best :D Bless her heart,

I watched the whole thing on BBC from 9pm till 1am, on the whole I think that we did a fantastic Job and all us British should be proud of that opening ceremony,
Although parts of it were for me hard to understand, lots of it I was scratching my head not having a clue what they were doing, the sound of the music was not clear, the acoustics not good, but that kind of came in handy at the end when that ageing ex- Beetle McCartney painfully tried to sing his 44 year old song Hey Jude, ------ you could hardly hear him and we had the telly way high, OMG he was so bad, he really needs to just give it up, cant even imagine what was going through the organizers minds when all they could come up with was him
The raising of the torches at the end I thought was absolutely amazing,
And the fire work display right at the end was as good as any that I have seen on the strip in Vegas on July 4th and New Years Eve over the years.
I loved the NHS tribute, just loved it!!!!
For a whole four hour show I thought they did one hell of a Job, 4 hours is a long time to run a show, and they ran it so well, there was always something good to watch throughout.

We watched a similar four hours of the American Olympics on NBC that apparently are being held in London England! With the voice overs muted (a lot) we enjoyed it. I think McCartney was his usual over confident self until he looked out at the crowd and choked when he started to sing. Never recovered. Should have mimed it. Just an opinion...

It was so nice to see Rebecca Adlington get a bronze medal in Swimming, I was told she that never expected a medal today, Rebecca is from Mansfield my wife's home town, we were so thrilled for her.

It was also nice to see NBC do a small piece on her tonight, we were quite touched.

I'm not much of a sports person but with the Olympics being set in the UK this year it makes it very easy for me to tune in, Infact I've not watched anything else since Friday night.

I really enjoyed watching the Mens and Womans cycling, England looked lovely even with rain today, its looks so beautiful, I'm so proud of the old Country, its just makes me want to go home that much more.

Fish did you watch the Womans Cycling Marathon Race yesterday? it was a very exciting finish when the leading three belted it out towards the finishing line and the one from the Netherlands (just) beat our British Girl by a hair!!!!!
So our Girl got the Silver, it was a wonderful race all way through, torrential rain through the whole race made it even more harder on all the Cyclists.

Wow this thread has nearly been forgotten about.....Just had a peek at the QM2 Cam, the ship is currently just off the Cornwall coast but looks very foggy. What a pity our returnees might have to wait just a little longer to get a first glimpse of home.

I found out I was disconnected so maybe others will found out they also are disconnected. I had to sign in again.

I will have to look at the QM2 because I looked over an hour ago and it was off Ireland (sort of). I did see the mist. They dock tomorrow morning I think.

They're due in shortly after 6am local time, the ship leaves for Hamburg at 4:30pm tomorrow afternoon, I'm hoping it's still light enough to get a look at her as she passes through the Strait of Dover tomorrow night.

She's just south of Helston, Cornwall. It's the blue icon doing 20.7 knots.

Here's a link.
