As with many people I'm very interested in moving over to the US. Right now it looks nigh on impossible, however, many of you have managed to do it, so it must be achievable.

In terms of career and education, currently involved with Marketing/Sales of IT products, approx 10 years experience in business since Uni.

From my research, the only method I can realistically see an an option is for a US employer to employ me.....so advice from any of you out there that have went down this road is much appreciated.

Cheers,

Dave

Take Cuban citizenship and then get yourself across to Florida. The instant your feet touch the beach they cannot deport you ;-)

If you go the the ER here the first thing they ask for is how are you paying. Prescription medications are extremely expensive. Even with expensive healthcare insurance you usually have a co-pay for each visit.

I think I am correct in saying that in most states if you fall behind with one mortgage payment your property can be foreclosed.

:scared:

If you really think that welfare benefits in the US are better than in Blighty, there is no helping you.

Does fire-at-will mean anything to you?

How long you been in the US for then?

You asked what I missed the most.

I missed my life, the day to day everyday things that I had been used to all my life. Pure and simple as that.

To answer your other question I have been here for 10yrs.

Here is a good article I came across recently,

37 million poor hidden in the land of plenty

N.B. Republicans should not read this article as you will enter instant denial mode. :D

Don't mind the old cuban cigar now and again - think the lack of Spanish or the pasty white skin will matter

Weather been pretty good here in the 80's again today, get's cold at night though. Remember the states is a big place and every where is different. I'm here on a inter company transfer but it wasn't easy to get the visa because you basically have to prove that you are not taking a job that an American could do.

Marry a yank well thats probably the easiest of all the routes.
