Fantastic news and what a lovely place to go to, much better than London. Life always has a habit of steering you in the right directions if you take the time to let it! Passport in hand, plane ticket booked and you are off!
Won't be long before you find your job as well

it looks so beautiful where you're going to be living
Is that the actual hotel too "The Diggle Hotel",because it looks so charming and sweet. I can almost hear the theme to Last of the Summer Wine playing looking at those pictures (even though I think that was filmed in Yorkshire) So as long as you don't end up adopting the look of Nora Batty whilst living there you'll be fine
Good Luck with it all and hopefully the passport will be with you asap

. The village apparently used to be part of West Yorkahire, but then it became integrated into Lancashire. I used to love watching TLOTSW

That place looks lovely! Perfect setting for you and I'm very glad you're following your heart. It will make everything else so much easier.
Imagine choosing London over somewhere like that!
The stonework of the buildings is so obviously West Yorkshire/East Lancashire - nowhere else looks like that.

Beautiful area - and truly a cross between England and Scotland

Sounds perfect, Who.
When everything falls into place like that, its usually a good sign!

WhoFan, thank you so much. You have helped clarify something for me. Go where the heart leads. For me, it is Devon where I went to boarding school. It is not a substitute for London at all. It's where I am meant to be.

Yes you're right. It's a village called Diggle, which actually used to be considered part of West Yorkshire, but then the boundaries were changed so it became part of Lancashire.
After seeing this, it makes it hard to even IMAGINE living anywhere else

You know, when you see those pictures you realise just how lucky you are (and I am speaking of myself too!) to not be able to afford London. Yes, we are definitely looking for something busier because we have lived in a Florida suburb for 15 years and want a change of life for a while.

I think everyone should follow their heart..they need to go where they know they are going to be happiest, because in the end if we go to places where we 'think' we should be, we only end up miserable. As I have said previously, with a little change... " we start of going where we THINK we should be, and end up where we are MEANT to be"

You are so right! Last night I even realised that with the delays in my passport arriving it gave me the opportunity to find this place. If my passport had arrived when I thought it would have, I would have ended up somewhere totally different and not realised this place even existed. I would never have contacted the B&B and wouldn't have been offered the flat.
Fate? Destiny? Maybe. I like to think my late husband is watching over me and had a hand in this.. lol

I agree with you too, although as you said 'each to his own'. There are just some people that couldn't or wouldn't like living away from a big city. The peace, quiet, solitude would drive them crazy.

Now begins the second stage to my adventure...finding the airfare ! LOL Once I get my passport I'll be all set, but lately I've been checking online at the tickets and can't seem to find anything decent, for the price I want. I was debating one-way versus return because of the cost. One-way is naturally, or should I say UNnaturally more expensive for some reason.
There's just no one-way tickets for under $1,000 that doesn't involve multiple stops. Such as Phoenix to Philadelphia to Dublin to Manchester, or Phoenix to Chicago to London to Manchester. Its strange that BA will do a non stop to London from Phoenix but there isn't a direct flight to Manchester.
So either way I'm going to get a stop somewhere, but one stop would be preferable to two...LOL
Oh well...will just have to keep looking ! And praying LOL
