I like it, but I do concede that it can get crowded. I just think Massachusetts has everything: the Berkshires, Boston, Cape Cod, and the people are very nice. Very unpretentious, unlike Connecticut, for example. Not that I want to leave New York State.

That's strange. I live in MA, but work in CT, and everyone in the office thinks I'm a right wanker.

Couple of hours in the car problem again though.

It's lovely before May, when it's not very busy. It sucks when it does...and it's a lot more pricey than those coastal towns up in Maine :/

Once since arriving in 2009, went back last summer to ship stuff over that we'd left in my mum's garage. Can't afford it this year, hope to go back next year for mum's 80th and tack on a trip to Italy. I really miss Europe and everything there more than actual Scotland. I loved being able to go really cheaply to Italy, my favourite place.

Twice in the last 9 months, 4 weeks and 3 weeks respectively, and hopefully again before the year ends.
As many times as possible, is the preferred rule.

Bob, driving to Maine is a hell of a long trip!

Yes, but it's not for a week long holiday stopping off at a variety of fun spots along the way v a couple hour drives for a day trip.

Haven't been back since I left in 2003. I'll get around to it someday.

I have found New Englanders in general to be tough nuts to crack. I moved up thinking it'd be culturally like the UK, but they are not really like the British at all. They are reserved, but the reservedness seems more selective, as opposed to British awkwardness and shyness. They are also VERY big on education at all levels. I'm not knocking it, but having lived in South Florida for over 8 years prior to coming here, it was culture shock part II. On another note, I'm actually moving back to FL, so will be saying goodbye to this beautiful part of the world soon.

Good luck with that! What brought that on though? I thought you were looking out west?

Thanks Bob. The company I worked for in FL have very kindly offered me my old job back. Florida is also "familiar" to me as I lived there so long. I sort of miss Miami in a weird kind of way. I like New England, but with all the other stuff going on in my life, trying to adapt to a new place is too much right now.
