Wow! I bet you're feeling relieved. I hope you can sleep easier a bit now!!! I know it won't have been an easy decision but once you have realised that you don't want to be there, there is no point prolonging the agony!!
Good luck for your return. Are you heading back to Stockport?

It is difficult and you do need to give it time, but for us it just wasn't what we thought it would be.
Good luck to all of you out there.
I've just done the sensible (but costly thing) and went back
for 6 weeks and, quite honestly, had the holiday of a lifetime.
Who would believe it...at home just seeing people
and being a it of tourist. Weather was really great too.
I felt like a completely different person over there,
just so incredibly happy and content.
Now I'm going back probably end March at the latest.
Coming back has been hard and comparing it to the
last few weeks, I'd be mad to stay any longer.
Incidentally, I heard of 2 famililies returning from US and
OZ after 15 years and I just though, my God, what a waste
to stay away for so long.
No, 5 years has been long enough.
It's been worth the trip to be completely sure and very
exciting to be going home for good.
It's been a fabulous experience and has made me incredibly
positive and much more intent on doing and seeing all the things I
took for granted in the UK.
So here's to all of us returnees...Good Luck
Hi everyone, PhillyD here, yes still alive and kicking. As you know I arrived home in England from Vancouver in March 2005, and my husband Simon was due to join me in June 2005.
Things didn't exactly go according to plan or as smoothly as I have believed owing to the very sudden (or so he said) change of heart my Husband Simon had, and therefore choose to stay in Vancouver working at the River Rock Casino. I was devastated, but realised I had always been in a position of 'his way or the highway', so walked towards the future. Of course he says he "loves me and always has and always will" but had to consider his future and put his career first.
Can any of you men tell me what makes a man pack up his entire home send it off to the docks, tell his wife he wants to go home to England, that he is looking forward to it. And then write a letter every day, and emails and phone calls every day, for almost three month, confirming his undying love and then at the last minute decide not to come after all. Of course another woman!!! one who wants to stay in Canada. However I have a great Job here working with wonderful people, It is FANTASTIC to be back. My family and friends have been so supportive and we have had some great times since I arrived. I do not regret returning at all, I am very happy again at last. I miss the scenery, the mountains and the sea on my doorstep, but that is all.
Life here is great, prices are good, and the amazing cheap flights to Europe are fantastic. I even went to the West of Ireland from Stanstead for £15 return, that included the taxes. There are plenty of jobs available and it is so nice to enjoy the English sense of humour again. Property is expensive, but it always was, the property prices in Vancouver were rising rapidly when I left there, no doubt they still are.
So if any of you are wondering about coming home, and really want to, then I say take the leap, it feels good to be back.
I still do not have my possessions, they arrived ( 50% of them) at Thamesport dock on Boxing day, and are awaiting customs clearance It will be sad of course to unpack the things we had together, ten years of my life, but things happen for a reason and I will never regret coming back.
Happy New Year
PhillyD
