There was a baby name book a few years back called "Beyond Jennifer and Jason" -- how to get away from trendy names.

First my brother and SIL were going to call a hypothetical daughter Katherine, and had a cow when I used that name. Then they liked Madison (trendy!).

When the real thing arrived she was called ..... India.

Bad habit, doesn't make you a chav, it's just chavy. By me wearing low trousers or what not, does not make me a "gangster". I don't really have any issues with it anyway, I just prefer real food.

I'm in a great mood as ever ....especially now you're here. I'm usually defending newbies, as you know, but I just don't understand the fascination we have these days with judging people who may have been brought up working class as a 'chav'

why do people have so much hatred? 'chavscum'? i can understand 'racistscum' but not sure why someone who eats pot noodle and calls their grandmother Nan should be disliked for no reason

I don't have hatred for anyone that was just a reference site, I've never called my grandmother nan, but there is nothign wrong with that, and I don't see what's "chavy" about that. Apologies for coming across in the wrong way.

For 25 years, starting in 1966, Jennifer was among the top 10 names given to American baby girls. From 1970-1984, it was the #1 American girls' name. I was one of them, born in 1972.

Like Snowbunny and her name (Amy), my parents claimed ignorance about the popularity of the name Jennifer. They said they somehow "came across it" and decided it was pretty -- but they had to check three times before putting it on my birth certificate to make sure they were spelling it correctly.

Subsequently I usually had 7-8 classmates named Jenny/Jennie/Jennifer every year in school, in every class. That's why, in 7th grade when I was 12, I decided to add the "e" to Jenny and become Jenney, to help set me apart just a little bit. It stuck.
