My wife and I have different residential statuses (if that's a word?).
I'm not UK resident - I've been living full-time in this region non-stop since 2005, and before that at various times since 1992. I rarely visit the UK.
My wife is UK resident (a very common arrangement), and visits me in Dubai occasionally. She pays tax on her various bits of income (interest from savings account, etc). There's no 'tax dodge' involved - the nice Mr Taxman knows about us and is happy with the situation.

intersting Dean, thanks for that info. I will be back in Uk every 6-8 weeks for day or so for my business here, would that work for us?
