Re: Living in Al Ain
Hi Larnie - I called your phone this morning but it rang out - I assume you were in the pool or the gym! I'll call again this afternoon.
I have recently arrived in Al Ain (one full week today) and have finally sorted the apartment, the suitcases and the boxes! (Not that there were that many, we travel light!)
I am living only a short distance from Al Jimi Mall and I would be interested in meeting anyone in Al Ain for coffee any morning, anytime, any place...have a rental car for now so can find my way around. Also found a dodgy unsecured wireless network that has allowed me to access internet....Yee Ha!...until we have our phone and ADSL connected.
Where do I buy stamps for letters? There doesn't appear to be a local post office. AND where can I have duplicate keys cut???
Cheers

If it's an apartment, it's a good idea to get your locks changed instead of just having keys cut - you never know about the last tenant. My doorman arranged this for me - he also keeps a spare key for those "oh sh*t" type moments.

Thanks for the advice - fortunately we are the first tennants of a new building so we should be OK. I hear I can get keys cut at AL Ain Mall and a nice Czech lady is going to tell me where!
Thanks also for the tip on the purchase of stamps - I think there is a Gulf Greetings in AL Jimi Mall - I'll have a look tomorrow........

Still not sure yet, still in UK but the baby will be here for sure in the next week so after that i can start to make plans hopefully. I just like to know these things as I get very impatient sometimes and I suppose it keeps me going. Are you planning a visit to AA soon.............

I am having coffee with Aussieoverseas and lucky13 tomorrow so I will see if I can get a phone number for an Agent or something like that for you. Al Ain is not very IT savvy and a lot of accommodation deals apart from those organised by the employer are a matter of who you know and word of mouth but I will see if they have any info which may help.
Cheers
