Press Release from today:-
mauve and peach colour scheme - sounds interesting!! EMIRATES ENHANCES ECONOMY CLASS DUBAI, UAE, 18th October 2005 – Emirates, the Dubai-based international airline, is introducing an enhanced, new-look Economy Class across its fleet starting 1st November. Travellers flying Emirates Economy Class will immediately notice the fresh look of the aircraft cabin with the ergonomically-designed seats sporting a new mauve and peach colour scheme. At meal times, customers will also see a change of presentation with their meals served on matching trays and elegant crockery specially designed to represent Dubai’s iconic seven-star hotel, the Burj Al Arab. The tray items also feature a classy pearlescent finish that reflect Dubai's heritage in pearl diving. Terry Daly, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Service Delivery said: “Emirates is proud to introduce a refreshed economy class product to our customers. We continually look at ways to augment our product and services, and improve on our customers’ travel experience. “The refreshed economy class brings a new, aesthetically pleasing environment in which our customers can enjoy their travel with Emirates and we are planning to introduce more enhancements in the coming months.†The airline’s new enhanced economy class will be gradually implemented across its network, beginning with flights operated on routes to Europe, Far East, Australasia and North America. In the coming months, Emirates also plans to revitalize its onboard product for young travelers and update its travel amenity kits for premium classes. Emirates’ economy class customers continue to enjoy the latest inflight movies and music via their individual in-seat television screens; generous legroom; meals designed by gourmet chefs; and award-winning service from a highly-trained team of cabin crew recruited from over 90 countries around the world. The airline is also currently retrofitting its fleet of Boeing 777-200 aircraft with the advanced Information, Communications and Entertainment (ICE) inflight entertainment system. Already available onboard Emirates' Airbus 340-500 and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, ICE offers passengers an amazing range of facilities including more than 500 entertainment channels, plus communication facilities such as telephone, SMS and e-mail from their personal in-seat system. Emirates was the first airline to provide economy class travellers on all flights with their own individual television screens in 1992, and since then has ensured that its inflight entertainment system remains second to none, while catering and service levels have consistently been voted as world beaters in international travel awards and surveys. Emirates operates a modern fleet of 81 aircraft to over 75 destinations in 54 countries. Since its launch in 1985, the airline has received more than 270 international awards in recognition of its efforts to provide unsurpassed levels of customer service. Ends - |

Interesting...may have to check it out in a few months when it happens.
Good to see them attempting to do something about the problem though. |

Re: Are Emirates Going down the pan
My parent's flew in from the UK the early hours of this morning by Emirates and said they had a fantastic flight and service was brilliant. I supposed a lot is to do with who is working at the time (regarding the service).
However, when we go back to the UK over Christmas we're flying Qatar, heard they are very good? Also can't wait for Virgin to start next year... Zannie |
Re: Are Emirates Going down the pan
I think Emirates was getting complacent about them being the best of the Middle East and have all of a sudden realised the other companies are creeping up on them.
I love to fly KLM as they are just superb. I cannot bear Gulf Air, and if Royal Brunei served alochol they would be perfect.

Yes but revamp of economy class isn't going to improve seat pitch and attitude of cabin crew is it and if business is good people must still be choosing them to fly with |
