Covid 19

Re: Covid 19
The stats suggest that 80% of people will have mild symptoms. That's spread across the whole population. The working age population is probably going to have a higher %; so whilst businesses will have to contend with increased absenteeism, the estimates are for a peak of 20-30% in an uncontrolled situation. This is a number that can be planned for and managed. It's not great, but it's not apocalyptic.

But they aren't. Mrs M is in sales, she has been tasked with whatsapping her customers one a day to see if they want anything. Of course they don't, and at this rate they will never buy from her again. I usually start work at 4pm-ish due to time differences and post-covid this has become later and even more in to the night.

Really great news in the FT today (subscribers only but key extracts below): https://www.ft.com/content/5ff6469a-...f-41bea055720b
Coronavirus may have infected half of UK population — Oxford study
New epidemiological model suggests the vast majority of people suffer little or no illness. The new coronavirus may already have infected far more people in the UK than scientists had previously estimated — perhaps as much as half the population — according to modelling by researchers at the University of Oxford. If the results are confirmed, they imply that fewer than one in a thousand of those infected with Covid-19 become ill enough to need hospital treatment, said Sunetra Gupta, professor of theoretical epidemiology, who led the study. The vast majority develop very mild symptoms or none at all.
[...]
To provide the necessary evidence, the Oxford group is working with colleagues at the Universities of Cambridge and Kent to start antibody testing on the general population as soon as possible, using specialised “neutralisation assays which provide reliable readout of protective immunity,” Prof Gupta said. They hope to start testing later this week and obtain preliminary results within a few days.

I hear expats who break curfew are being deported without exception, so think veeeeeeeeery carefully before risking it. There's also now a lock down around Riyadh.

Re: Covid 19
They will deport you after holding you in a rat infested prison for three month being ****ed up the arse by mohamed and his mates until flights start again. Don't be so stupid!
