ok i will stay off there but what about the rats comment in villa/apartment compounds and the poor state of finishes as they said in properties. im no snob but dont want to live with rats. they also said women are frquently raped oh sugar to put it politely. im scared.

Please could you elaborate on your hubby's job. Hospital fit-outs are the sole territory of the semi-skilled Indian labourer in Doha. Please tell me that he is highly educated, highly skilled and in a niche specialist job...

I'll repeat, job security, particularly in the Doha Construction Industry, is non-existent.

I guess its hard to know for sure if those stories are true, but in the circles you'll be moving in and the places you'll be living, rape and rats are very unlikely.

Safety wise the rules are the same as at home. Don't get in unlicensed cabs etc. I would say you're less likely to have a problem here than down princess parkway.

Finish wise most places are nice but the finish in most is not the same quality as you'd find in a new home back in the UK, the workmanship is not the same, but its hardly roughing it.

Johnnyboy- highly skilled and no not a labourer.
He works for a consultancy company who manage the design,building, etc from start to finish on scholls and hospitals worldwide.

lol, have lived here 8 years, on about 4 compounds...there are some rats...but NOT inside.
And I've never ever felt unsafe or in danger of being raped here.

Now...safety wise, the only real and serious danger here are some , if not most, drivers on the roads here.

And yes, most of the girls on qatarliving may very well be not so safe here as Asian women are often seen as willing...(which many of them are not). At least not when it comes to the kind of men who are usually offering...;)
