Wow, how'd you get a month and a half off work (the both of you)?

You do raise an interesting point. If one is going to be gone that long, is there a way to notify USCIS of that fact and an alternate contact address?

Perhaps if you have an attorney of record the attorney is copied on such correspondence. Dunno.

The people who answer the 800 number are not USCIS employees. You knew that, right? They have no magic information... they look at the same database you look at and give you the answer that you already know because you've already seen it for yourself.

The date - in this case, October 11, 2005 - indicates only that that is the oldest file on the shelf. There is no indication of how many thousands of files, all dated October 11, were received. Ergo, there is no possible way to know how long it will take before the October 11 date is moved.

Additionally, the website is only updated periodically, so you can not get any true sense of how long the processing will take. Indeed, many times the dates go backwards!

Don't make this more difficult for yourself than it needs to be. Step away from the computer now!

Based on the online dates that on May 8 they were processing from Nov 02 and based on what they told me on the phone (on May 16 they were somewhere between Oct 11 and Nov 2005)...
See where the dates Nov 2nd get repeated? Once by the online status, and once by the 800 number? That's why we keep saying the 800 number confirmed what the online status says. They *both* say Nov 2nd. Thus, they are working on cases somewhere around Oct/Nov. I don't see why this is so difficult.

Where here did you see that statement: "You say the 800 line ALSO told you that CSC is now handling cases filed on November 2, 2005".

I said that when I called the 800 number 2 days ago they told me that they are working on cases somewhere between Oct 11 and Nov 02.

Based on the online dates that on May 8 they were processing from Nov 02 and based on what they told me on the phone (on May 16 they were somewhere between Oct 11 and Nov 2005) I can affirm that the dates ar not accurate and is at least one month difference between what they provide online and what they told me when I called.

That "Now" from online spreadsheet should be removed, because they cannot provide to the clients exact information, they just estimate the workload....
Hi:

I have no idea if they received any I-751's on November 3, 2005 -- it is possible. Look, those on-line reports have been made for years, although it was only fairly recently that they were made publically available on the government web site [before then they made out to the public via AILA].

The spreadsheet is not designed to give EXACT information on any given case. They give ONE piece of hard information: the date of the newest case that has gone from the "shelf" to the "floor" for adjudication. This data is examined every two weeks or so by the simple expedient of checking the index cards on the shelf indicating the last filing date gone to the floor.

You keep harping on the fact that BOTH the on-line spreadsheet AND the 800 line gave you the SAME November 2, 2005 date.

November 2, 2005 is November 2, 2005.
November 2, 2005 is November 2, 2005.
There is NO DIFFERENCE between November 2, 2005 and November 2, 2005.
There is NO DIFFERENCE between November 2, 2005 and November 2, 2005.

Hi:

I understood the October 11, 2005 date as the oldest date on the FLOOR for adjudication, not the oldest case on the "shelf." The November 2, 2005 date is the oldest date on the SHELF.

dunno how to notify them if both are out of the country. But I can tell you that most of the people don't have an attorney for 751's....and also the attorneys ussualy don't get the notice...

We got our approval notice yesterday and our receipt date was just a
few days before Christmas. No, I have no idea how that happened
considering what dates the online system gives for processing.

Just curious. Why are you asking everyone the same question (as if that
matters)?

I just wonder if location plays any role, it looks like some residents of CA are getting their I-751s approved faster than others, that's why I ask.

What do the initials NOW stand for in your posts? I never heard of NOW CSC before.

Why the big issue about a matter of 3 weeks and why would anyone want to rely on what the contract personnel at the infamous 1-800 misinformation has to say about anything. I would rather rely on the answer from the "eight" ball.

Perhaps you might want to say it this way:

The date listed on the USCIS website, i.e. November 2, means they are processing cases from November 2 backwards 30 days to October 3.

To be 100% accurate the CIS website should have it posted as 10/11-12/2/2005 and not just 11/2.

So a September 12 date would be petitions filed between August 11 to September 12 are being worked on?

In light of this the 1-800 misinformation told you October 11 to November 2 which means CSC has actually progressed from the CIS website date.

Got it?

The on-line site shows as of May 8th shows processing of cases filed between October 3 and November 2, 2005.

The 800 line operator gave you October 11 and November 2, 2005.

The only difference is that on-line sets up a generic 30 day period while the 800 line gave you both sides rather than just assuming a 30 day window.

Given the definitions used, the information is perfectly consistent -- the both show processing of cases filed in the 30 day period ending on November 2, 2005.

Can someone else explain this? I don't know what else to say.
